Forget Gwyneth. Mr. Pitt (Jennifer Aniston's hubby) may be invited to guest star in one of the episodes this season. Call it The One with a Heart. Speaking of Friends, could the show be renewed for a ninth and/or 10th season? They could outlast Happy Days and MASH as the longest-running sitcom.

Well they certainly wouldn't get the longest running sitcom. The Simpsons has been on for 11 or 12 seasons and Frasier is in it's ninth renewed till it's 11th. But those shows still wouldn't get the record, the record is currently held by The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet which lasted 14 years, and even My Three Sons lasted 12 years. So unless by some miricle of nature and all the cast members want to stay on for 6 more years, they have no chance at the record. Oh and one more thing Happy Days and MASH arn't even in the running for the longest running.

Anyway, according to the IMDb of last May, these are the USTV sitcoms ending with at least 200 episodes, preceded by how far "Friends" needs to go to equal the amount, if every third season has 25 episodes...

To answer Bud's question, "Friends" co-creator David Crane reports that the new storylines of Season 8 have really energized the show.
"We're still excited", he says, "we don't feel like we're telling the same jokes over and over again. We feel like the show has a lot more years in it, ninth season and beyond."
