I was watching TOW All The Kissing today and a reference is made that Joey wanted Bodington's (sp?) beer like they had in London and Ross tells him a pub near the Trade Center has it.
Do you think they will edit it out, overdub it, leave as is, or just not air it again.
I know it's silly, but I was just curious.

Furthermore, IMO, they *should* leave it as is. The WTC was real. It existed and was a part of many, many people's lives on a day-to-day basis. To try to erase it from the past would be doing a disservice to the reality of the period, and it might even be seen as an insult the what the WTC represents to so many of us today.

I agree too ... they shouldn't edit it at all or edit any of the transitional scenes that include scenes of the World Trade Center. They were there and are to be remembered, it would be unfortunate if they felt they had to cover up any references to it. And I wish that they would rebuild them (although I could understand if they didn't).

I'm not sure whether it would work as a defiant statement, or just something else for terrorists to knock down. The issue is that office space and buildings are needed for jobs, as so many employees are in temporary offices. Personally I'd like to see them rebuilt, a memorial must be errected, but the current econonmical and social needs musn't be overcome by what happened. Life must move forward.

I realize that there is a need for office space and a need to return to normal, but I also think "normal" has changed. (As the expression goes, "you can't go home.") I think it is appropriate to rebuild something there, but something different, something as inspiring, but not a replica. I think it should reflect a respect for the past, but also represent a wiser future. Certainly a tall order, and obviously only one man's opinion. Time will surely tell.

I agree with you in that something should be rebuilt, I'm still keen to see something that meets the practical needs of the area, i.e. office space, but which also remembers what happened. It shouldn't be exactly how it was, because the age of the skyscraper has passed, and it would be painful for some. Something of substance should be built, I'm not really sure what thoug h! The other thing is, does the insurance of the buildings mean that they *have* to be rebuilt?

I guess it depends more on where you live. I live in NYC and I pass by Ground Zero when I go to my university a block away. Every time I pass by I get a knot in my throat. I don't think this feeling will ever go away.

We recently had a Conference on Antiterrorism and some Oklahoma delegates(college students) came to Pace to share their experiences from the Oklahoma city bombing. I escorted them on a tour of Downtown NY and near Ground Zero and they were left speechless at seeing GZ.

I know I can't know how you feel, but time is a healer, and it only happened 6 months ago. I think part of it has to do with the scale of the buildings, the bigger they come, the harder they fall.
