All in all a good eposoide in my opinion. I think that the mix up between characters was very good. It was not longer Chandler and Monica and Joey and Rachel or the girls and the guys. A nice mix. It is also nice to see some of the orginal character traits back again. Including Monica's competitive nature, Joey's protectiveness, Rachel acting a little bit like a princess, Chandler being Chandler again and Ross well being Ross. I think there was some funny moments. A light story line with a little moment of drama thrown in. Not a bad eposoide.

It was an episode where people's strongest foibles were highlighted, but it seemed refreshing to me that they acknowledged their own shortcomings. Monica came right out and said it and Chandler was working with Phoebe to be less like "Chandler." The surprise to me was that Rachel even said to Ross, "But I'm being so unreasonable" or something to that effect, acknowledging her own Princess Rachel attitude.

I think it shows personal growth for all of them. Ross wasn't whining. In fact, he was very supportive and adult-like. I can't tell you how refreshing THAT was. Phoebe was helpful to Chandler, albeit with that typical Phoebe edge.

Joey, on the other hand came off, to me, as digressing a little bit in the personal growth area. Of course, he has taken such great leaps this season, he was bound to level off at some point. He was certainly supporting his friend Monica, but not as self-aware as the others this time.

The interesting thing about that is that, in this episode, Monica didn't even bother me. For once, I understood the reason for her obsessiveness; somebody who was supposed to be knowledgeable had publicly ripped apart her professional expertise in print. Yeah, that's gotta hurt. While it might have been kind of dumb for her to be in a beginner's cooking class, I can see why, in her insecurity, she needed the reassurance. She also didn't scream the whole time. Monica was fine here, and it *was* funny that she admitted she was crazy.

I liked seeing a story where Chandler's sarcastic nature was revived, and I also enjoyed watching Phoebe act as if they were friends rather than acquaintences who barely tolerated each other for Monica's sake.

The surprise to me was that Rachel even said to Ross,

I had mixed emotions about that scene. I am glad she admitted what she was doing, but I still am waiting for somebody to inform this self-absorbed cow that she ALWAYS treats him *exactly* like this whether she's pregnant or not. I'm afraid this is the exact trait that made me dub her Princess Something-Not-As-Nice-As-Rachel several years ago. This scene would have been far less irritating to me if it wasn't the same song, 22nd verse - except more honest this time. I'm with James here; she's not just asking him to be the Father of Her Child. She appears to want a full-time, longterm slave she can order around and kick aside when it suits her. When and if I have to write an essay about the advantages of Joey and Rachel as a couple, this is one of the points I'm going to mention. Joey wouldn't stand for this toxic little game.

And this is why I didn't actually dislike the scene. Old Ross was back completely, and Mental Geller was absolutely nowhere to be found. The number one reason why I still support Ross and that selfish little twit as a couple is that, when they are writing him in such a way that he might appeal to Rachel, he is a much more pleasant character to watch. What we saw last Thursday was the character that hooked me on the show, not that hideous evil twin they've been overusing so much.

Yeah, he was back to being Old Joey - dumb, kind of incompetent, but really a very sweet man and a good friend, with little emotional complexity. I am sorry to say I think Matt LeBlanc does this sweet schtick better than the big emotional stuff. For what it's worth, he seems to think so too.

Have you ever noticed that her little back-biting comments, usually about women interested in Ross, really apply to her instead? For example, she characterized Julie as "that manipulative bitch" and in 821, Katie was a "horny bitch." Interesting "bitch" is on her tongue when SHE is the princess of that realm.

Matt certainly doesn't want people to turn on Joey because of the "potentially risky" plot twist with Rachel. Joey has a lot going for him, and his friends know what to expect from him whether they agree with him or not.

It started out the usual way, where Phoebe just puts him down but it was good to see her be a real friend to him and help him out. Plus, LK got some more screen time and had something to work with after ages.

Yes, yes, exactly. I can't believe everyone is excusing her because she is pregnant. What about all the other times she has done this when she wasn't pregnant? This was just another case of watching her backup with another woman and going beserk. I absolutely detested her this episode. It was great to see Ross being so understanding. Joey wouldn't put up with this kind of behavior and I doubt that Rachel would behave like this with Joey. She seems to do this with Ross knowing well that she can get away with it.

Let's hope that the evil twin never ever returns.

He's better at doing this fun loving old Joey but it would be hard to show a different Joey after we've watching the old Joey for eight years. Considering that, I think he did okay.
