Favorite Friends season finale?

Found out every Friends episode is listed on the nbc.com Friends website with a plot summary. (http://www.nbc.com/Friends/), and thus every season finale is listed.

S1 finale*: TOW Rachel finds out (that Ross is in love with her) S2 finale: TOW Barry and Mindy's wedding S3 finale*: TO at the beach S4 finale*: TOW Ross' wedding (and Ross says "Rachel" instead of "Emily") S5 finale*: TO in Vegas (where Ross and Rachel get married while drunk) S6 finale: TOW the proposal (Chandler and Monica, that is) S7 finale*: TOW Monica and Chandler's wedding (and Rachel's pregnancy) S8 finale*: TOW Rachel has a baby (and Joey "proposes" to Rachel)

I didn't watch all of them, but obviously they usually save the best episode for last. What's your favorite finale? Since this season's finale is most likely the series finale, thought it would be good to ask this question now.

Definately S4. It was a time when I wished Ross & Rachel to be together again. I don't have that feeling anymore, mainly because it got old after 8 seasons of dragging RnR drama.

I remember seeing this episode for the first time... I've almost never been happier watching TV... *he still loves her* ;o)

This topic has been done sooooo many times in the past. Nevertheless, my favourite season finale is S5. That was one of the funniest episodes ever.

I've seen S1, S4, and S6-S8. I've got two favorites:

S6 (the proposal) is one: the ending of the S6 finale (Chandler proposing to
Monica around all the lit candles) has to one of the most touching moments in
the history of the sitcom.  A lot of Friends fans must have had tears in their
eyes.  The return of Tom Selleck in that epsiode was great too. Joey buying the
boat was also hilarious.   Plus no cliffhanger, which was a pleasant surprise
for Friends.   It's always better when it's unexpected.

The S8 finale (the birth) was great too, although I hated the cliffhanger ending; Joey's "proposal" seemed very fake and contrived, it certainly didn't look like he "accidentally" opened up Ross' ring. But the return of Janice was terrific (I certainly didn't see that one coming); and the whole waiting game for Rachel to deliver was hilarious. Funniest lines were from Ross in that episode; I remember three of them.

"I'm three centimeters!"--during the exasperating wait for Rachel to deliver

"Did you see the baby on that nose?"--referring to Janice's ugly baby

"You can't believe how much that hurt!"--after Rachel's headbutt of Ross during her painful delivery

S6 was my least fav. season finale just because CCA and MP did very poor acting in it. Mainly MP. CCA sounds horrible when she's crying and talking at the same time.

Really? I thought most Friends fans (especially female fans, since it's a marriage proposal) would have loved this episode, just because of the magnitude of the event. And from all the people screaming/cheering in the studio audience during the proposal scene (that usually only happens when a famous guest star appears), I think I was right.

That proposal scene is the most poorly acted moment in the history of Friends. Absolutely the pits. Granted, the dialogue was so overblown I'm not sure Aniston/Schwimmer, who are much better at this kind of thing, could have saved it. I do think Matthew was less awful than Courteney was.

Sure. It was a tiny, tender moment where the magnitude of his true feelings broke through the facade of fun and it gave everybody these great warm fuzzies. Much, much better writing, much better acting, much more believable, much more moving.

The main thing then was they proposed, but now that's past history.

As Tina said at the time, at least they could have put some fake tears on their cheeks. When I first got the DVD, I zoomed that scene up while it was in slow motion - but no, their cheeks were still dry...

Then Rachel and Ross ruined it all by running out of the chapel! ;)

This post made something very obvious to me. All of the cliffhanger eps have something to do with R&R. They didn't have a cliffhanger at the end of S2 while R&R were together, and S6 was a refreshing change of pace. Nevertheless, it seems painfully obvious to me now that the underlying R&R relationship is a prevailing force for the show. I never looked at it that way before, but there it is.

Most R&R fans argue that R&R have to be together because the show was always about them, that it started with them and so it has to end with them getting together. What I can't understand is that for a ensemble show where all six characters are supposed to enjoy equal status, the writers were rather biased to the R&R saga in the early years. Later seasons, they stories were used only for shock value in cliffhangers and quickly dropped. Now, since it's the final year, they may do the most predictable thing on earth and marry off the two.

Yes indeed and nobody will change my mind about that.

As we saw over the last seasons, it seems to be hard to write funny stories for one couple. Even harder writing funny stories for two couples out of six main characters.

We'll see. Soon. I don't need to see another wedding, though, just want to be asured, the characters will stay together after the show goes off air.
