The obnoxious waiter in this episode was played by Dan Bucatinsky. He also wrote and starred in a film called "All Over the Guy."
That same film also had a cute bit by Lisa Kudrow as a commercial voice-over actress, and featured Adam Goldberg (Eddie - Chandler's freak roommate) in a substantial role.
It's very Friends-like in its portrayal of the main characters - sometimes the dialog is so "Friendsish" that you'd swear BKC wrote it.
But the twist is that the romantic leads are gay (the other guy is Richard Ruccolo, who played Pete on "Two Guys, a Girl, and (occasionally) a Pizza Place"). The bigger twist is that Bucatinsky also wrote and starred in the same story on stage when it was called "I Know You Are, but What Am I?" and the leads were heterosexual. The plot is still the same - about fear of commitment.
I liked this movie a lot. It's on HBO this month, early the 14th and prime time on the 18th (and several times thereafter). If you get a chance, definitely check it out.
