Question on the flashback episodes

Maybe this has been talkd before, but in the thanksgiving flashbacks episode, we see how Joey gets a turkey stuck on his head in the 92. But in the flashback episode of season 3, Joey is supposed to be accepted as Chaendler's new partner in the 93, since the episode was made in the 96, and the flashback takes us 3 years ago. Is this a mistake, or am I missing something?

Episode 306 "TOW the Flashback" was set in September 1993, one year before Rachel's wedding to Barry Farber.
