Well, I've been away for awhile finishing up with finals and getting settled in back home. I've finally caught up with all the posts and I feel the need to express some thoughts and since I don't want to reply to a whole bunch of messages I thought I'd just make a new topic out of them.
-I caught some parts of David Schwimmer on Dennis Miller Live last Friday and he was a solid guest. He seemed pretty layed back. His movie, "All the Rage" will come out this summer. I think he plays a homosexual in it.
-I read that Jennifer Aniston has a sex scene with a transsexual character who's played by a woman in Metal Gods. I've got mixed feelings about this. I won't get into them now.
-This Scally guy is amusing to me. I can't imagine spending that much time on a vendetta just to spoil an episode for a bunch of people. I feel bad for all the people who had the finale spoiled for them, but part of me finds it a bit amusing.
-I read in an earlier post where Adeline said the contract negotiations aren't our business and one of her points was that we don't pay them. That's not exactly true. NBC announces their fall line-up so that they can start the process of lining up advertisers. NBC will undoubtedly charge advertisers more money next year to air commercials because of the salary hike. The prices of the products that are advertised will go up a bit to compensate. That is where we come in. It's similar to how when athletes get huge contracts, the fans end up paying more for tickets to help pay the contracts.
-I watched Gladiator last week to get away from the strain of finals and I enjoyed it a lot.
-I taped episode 623 and watched it on Saturday and taped over it the same day. My enthusiasm for the show has declined, but I think it's mainly just this season. I tend to be optimistic about the next couple of seasons just because I'll look at it as a fresh start. Whether or not the PTB look at it that way is, of course, another story altogether.
-It's easy for someone to tell someone else to look at the show more positively when you enjoy it yourself. It's much harder to actually do that when the aspects of the show that first caused you to enjoy it have been largely absent.
-Two Guys and a Girl gets a bad rap. It's not too bad of a show and has improved greatly from the beginning. It blends solid humor with decent storylines. Getting rid of the pizza place was a great move.
-$750,000 per ep is quite alot, but I think it's a decent settlement. The one thing that worries me is that Kevin Bright said in an interview that the cast will have more flexibility with outside work in their new contract. I also saw that David and Jennifer were the last two to agree. They were still holding out until the others talked them into continuing. I don't know if that is accurate or not, but it's interesting to think about.
-There are a lot of big decisions to be made now about what direction the show will go in the next couple of years. I really hope they grow more and don't just drift aimlessly like four of them seemed to do this year. The show can't sustain itself for two more seasons without the characters growing up more into really being adults who live adult lives.
-This is along the lines of "If a tree falls in the woods, and no one sees it, does it still make a sound?" ......If R&R get back together in the next two years after more teasing, and no R&R fans are left to see it, did the reunion really happen?
