Back in '00, someone posted the link to an audio file of an early "demo" recording of the theme, in which Stewie clearly says "laugh and cry"...if it's still out there, could someone post the URL so we can settle the whole debate? Thanks.

Yeah, but it's not. Never was. Looking at the song in context and the nature of the character who said it (Stewie), it becomes obvious it's "laugh and cry".

There's nothing left to argue about when even the show's creator, not to mention the guy who actually sang it, says that it's "laugh & cry". Just listen to the commentary on the DVD. I'll admit that I did think it was F'ing cry, then changed to Laugh & Cry... but I'll take Seth's word on it.

Forgot to add to the above: The producers never should have re-recorded or enhanced the title song to make "laugh and cry" clearer. That just made things worse, because now morons are convinced that "it used to be effin' cry and now it's been changed to laugh and cry." At least before the re-recording/enhancement, the Seth proof and others such as the singer, sheet music, demo recording, etc. settled things. Now those don't work for some because they insist that there are two different lyrics, old version and new.
There isn't any debate if you've watched the Season 1 & 2 DVDs w/ the commentary. Seth McFarlane cracks a joke about the title sounding like "F-in' Cry", but confirms that it is indeed, "laugh and cry".
Agreed. But just watch this group. In a month or so, someone else will bring up the eff'in topic again -- all proof to the contrary be damned.

Entertaining anyone who would re-hash an obviously old and tired argument such as this just encourages them. The simple way to avoid having these threads go several hundred posts is to tell anyone who asks about this subject to go and rent or borrow the season 1&2 DVDs, and watch the episodes with commentary. If they can hear the show's creator tell them that it is indeed "laugh and cry", and still argue it, than they're just flamers, and should be avoided like the plague, or more aptly, SARS.
