Is it just me... (3/26/2006 SPOILERS)

...or was tonight's episode chock full of jokes that merely went too far?

Yes, "Family Guy" frequently crosses the proverbial line, but usually in a manner that's as hilarious as it is offensive. Something about tonight's show was just...off. The shock value was there, but not the humor.

I found myself silently cringing as often as I was laughing. That's never happened to me before, and this is a series that's featured gags about necrophilia and the Holocaust.

Actually, the episode was quite good until Bertram was born. It was downhill from there.

Oh, and I'm willing to overlook the storyline's obvious chronological gap (this being "Family Guy", after all), but I simply cannot forgive the writers for once again failing to include the phrase "inconceivable." Shame on all of you!

2 things I'd have done a bit different:

When the quartet was speaking that long bit in the middle of their song, Lois should've just flailed her arms and screamed "ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and they'd have moved on to finish.

And during the aerial battle, I'd have panned down in the middle of it and show 2 bystanders (out for a walk - sitting on a bench - something normal) watching it and commenting "Uh.....should we be, like, running or something?"

Agreed. That bit went on too long.

FG rarely goes for the quick and easy joke ("Inconceivable!") but would rather go for the long, round-about, obscure joke (Great Space Coaster anyone?!).
