Does anyone know why Mila Kunis took over, starting w/the New Year's special? I read in "The Complete Directory to Primetime Network TV Shows" that the original actress who provided her voice had a clause in her contract that forbade her identity from being known...was that contract breached somehow?

I've been wondering that myself... I thought the original actress who voiced Meg was the young girl from Party of Five with the "squeaky voice" she now does a voice for Nickelodeon's "Wild Thornberrys" I can never remember her name. Could I have been wrong in my assumption?
Is it just me or does the new voice for Meg make her character seem a bit more stupid?

Yep (Mila Kunis, who plays Jackie)...but as a fan of That '70s Show, I think Kelso's much more of an airhead than Jackie!
And yeah, Mila's Meg takes some getting used to, but since she's a cutie (IMO), I can live w/it!

First according to a close female friend who works at a Fox affiliate which is not an O&O said that Mila Kunis has always been the voice of Megan on Family Guy it was just that she was previously contracted to work on That 70's Show, It's sort of like the situation that happen with Mary Kay Bergman who did voices on South Park for the first two season as Shannen Cassidy.
Second, Do you have some magic version of The Complete Directory To Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, I work at a book store and the most recent version is the Sixth Edition which was published before Family Guy was even on Fox.

I guess your store didn't get the new edition yet, which was published in Sep. of 1999. I found my copy at Borders.
