Actually, my main goal is expressing my displeasure concerning a show I find inferior. If some idiots want to insult me for it, all the better.
But I fear I may have to ask the Guild for a new assignment. In order to successfully put forth how much show sucks, I'd have to actually watch it, and it's gotten too painful. So I haven't watched the show in a while. The last episode I've seen was the one with the lame old plot about turning the basement into a bar.

So, who did start this newsgroup? Was it you, Dave? I've got to say, I'd be impressed by someone who disliked something so much they started a newsgroup for fans - just to complain to them.
In defense of dave:
I don't want this to turn into a whole 'troll' argument, but I want to put in my two cents because I've been called a troll for expressing my honest opinions in the past. At least Dave has been doing his best to keep it somewhat intellectual, and not letting it degrade into a mindless insult war. He seems to be really into sitcoms (note the Seinfeld FAQ which he co-authored) - more so than I will ever be. I can see why he would have an interest in convincing people that FG is no good.
But really, what are we worried about? As far as I know, he hasn't succeeded in changing anyone's mind about FG yet. We are not doing Family Guy any good by ignoring critics and calling them trolls.
Anyways... enough of that. Long live Family Guy.

Actually, I get a kick out of seeing a few desperate fans panicking over the impending death of a marginally entertaining TV show. Message to them: Get over it. They'll put some other lame cartoon on and you'll forget all about little Stevie.
No, but I have gotten a few people to rethink why they like the show in the first place. That's only a step or two away from tuning out.
When the critics are as plentiful as they are, you either ignore them or wallow in them. Not much middle ground.
Oh, sometimes you call them names but they tend to use that against you.
So, back to the show. What's the latest on sponsors pulling out due to the questionable content and their unwillingness to have their products associated with it? Has FOX found replacement advertisers willing to lower their corporate bars?

The idea of every sitcom is to make one laugh at the characters and yet feel empathy for them, though I've never actually cried for a sitcom character. Every sitcom wants you to laugh and cry with them. It's a total cliche. No sitcom would want to make you 'effin' cry. That would be retarded. The show would go off the air.

I know this is a stupid argument but I'll throw in my tuppence anywho.
In the episode where Stewie falls in love, he says to Brian, "Ha! That's so funny I forgot to laugh... excluding that first 'ha.'" - The way he pronounces 'laugh' is different than the way the word in question is pronounced in the theme song.
Personally, sometimes I hear 'laugh and,' sometimes I hear 'effin' -- as long as the show is funny and they stay away from those stupid burst-into-song moments, I don't care.

I watched last Tuesday night. It sounded like they re-recorded the theme song, as I definitely clearly heard "Laugh".
On another note, I definitely liked Meg's old voice better. Maybe I am associating this with her character on That 70s Show, but the voice of that actress sounds way too whiny and bitchy for my taste.
Now all we need are more episodes with Lois in a swim suit (or less if the writers can figure out a way to do it)!
