Family Guy plug in Treehouse of Horror 13

The clone Homers were just cloning themselves over and over with the magic hammock, and in addition to hundreds of normal Homers, and a season one Homer, Peter from Family Guy was in the background. =)

um, i don't think that was complimentary, after simpsons staffers have repeatedly expressed their dislike for family guy.

I'm not sure I'd call it an insult either. I think they also took a "crack" at another Fox cartoon father, Hank Hill from "King of the Hill". One of the Homers had on Hank's square glasses. Plus the last Homer was a "classic" Homer from "The Tracey Ulman Show" (in the early style of drawing).

I'm almost surprised they didn't have Sherman from "The Critic".

I haven't seen the "Lisa The Simpson" episode in so long, I'm not surprised I missed it. But I remember last nights Homer having square glasses [I might be off on that]. Off the top of my head, I don't remember the show ever using square glasses (other than "cheaters" or "granny" glasses). Usually the show uses full circles on regular glasses [I might be off on that, too]. Did they really use square glasses in the "Lisa The Simpson" episode?

I understand the logic that a Peter in a sea of Homers [why does that sound dirty?] implies he's just like a Homer. But, I still don't think people should assume it was a slap in the face, and that's what they meant. It's like saying, since they had a "classic" Homer they are inferring the Tracy Ulman Show copied the modern Homer? That doesn't make sense. Maybe it's just another funny primetime cartoon dad they threw in for fun?

Maybe it was just a plain sight gag. "Hey, that's not a Homer! OMG, it's that guy from that show they just canceled!"

I thought it was cool they acknowledged another show.

But something I was thinking about, what is the turn around time on a Simspons episode? Is it possible the show was written before it was "officially" known TFG was canceled (since Fox took a while to make it clear it was dead)? I think I remember hearing the show is written and key-framed well in advance, before it's shipped off to the animation factories. And then it's kinda "out of their hands". That kinda changes what their rational might have been.

Although, I think it might have made more sense if they had Peter somewhere else in the episode instead as a corpse, ...being that the show is dead.

Well, they're insinuating that Peter is just another clone of Homer. While it may be true that FG wouldn't exist without the Simpsons, and Peter may well be loosely based on Homer, ... erm, ok maybe the suggestion is valid then. ;-)
