When You Wish Upon a Weinstein

Is this episode the same as Mr Saturday Knight, with an alternate name, or a different episode altogether? I do not see it listed in the episode guides. TIA

Planet Family Guy says that "Mr. Saturday Knight" was Episode #3ACX04, and "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein" is #2ACX05, the latter not having been aired yet. Note about latter: "This episode was originally banned by Fox, but looks set to be aired now!!!"

Multiple other sources I found also definitely indicate that they are *not* the same episode. Indeed, "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein" doesn't make much sense as the title to the episode that featured the Renaissance Faire, but Mr. Saturday Knight does.

What's keeping Fox from airing it? I hadn't heard anything about it prior to this thread.

Please tell us why it will never air. What sort of material was so objectionable to FOX that they couldn't even edit it out?!

Honestly I don't think it's any more offensive than any other Family Guy episode, because its heart is in the right place...it's just got a lot of Archie Bunker type moments w/ Peter. Here's a quick summary - Peter squanders Lois' rainy day money on a bunk insurance policy...so he ends up wishing for a Jew after Quagmire and Cleveland's Jewish accountants help them out w/ their finances (it's a really funny song parody of "When You Wish Upon A Star") ...conviniently enough, Max Weinstein's car breaks down outside Peter's house. Anyway, the controversy lies in some of the "Peter is ignorant" humor...which is what it is...the show doesn't make fun of jews, in fact, Peter is quite fond of the jews! I think it's a great episode, and if it never airs, I hope it makes it on a DVD down the road.

So it's not really any more offensive than the British stereotype ep. from a few weeks ago? Anyway, how have you seen it already...!

You're not allowed to make fun of Jews. That is a big no-no on U.S. broadcast television, it seems. Well, it's okay to portray certain stereotypes, but not others...

Well, one of the main things I like about Family Guy is that it makes fun of prejudices, rather than support them. While some may misconstrue FG as being racially insensitive and prejudiced, it actually has the opposite message.

However, they have to be careful not to cross the line.

Speaking of lines, I've always thought a great episode segment of Family Guy would be a carnival, with Patrick Stewart working at a contest saying "The Line must be drawn here, this far, no farther" in some tossing contest for where a person should stand. Parody of First Contact, in case you didn't know...
