New episode up (AVI & MPG); need advice

Episode 320 up in AVI (thanks Andy Howard) and MPG (thanks Jason Allen).

I would like to start having small (~40KB) verification files to go with each episode, so that when you download it you can run that file through a program and it makes sure the file is exactly like my copy (ie, no problems). This should be useful since people have been having problems. I've heard of SFV but am not that familiar with it; i've used MD5 but I think those only go with SHN music files. Any suggestions? What's the fastest/most accurate/most popular?

Actually SFV files work with any file type. All it does is store a CRC32 checksum for the file. I wrote an app that can be used to generate SFV files and/or verify that downloaded files are not corrupted. I can email it to whoever wants it.

MD5 checksums should work for any file type. I would prefer if you used MD5 because it's fairly standard in linux distributions, which means no searching for software for me. They're also quite small (under 100 bytes), so you could fit MD5 checksums for all of your FG episodes in one file.

I am very familiar with MD5s, but not with SFV, though I know they're popular. I wouldn't put all of the checksums in one file, because who would download the entire collection? Not many. I'll have to make 40 separate files, and keep them in a separate folder. I might as well include both types so people can use their preference, it only takes a minute to generate them. Whatever software is needed I will include on the server so people don't need to search.

SFV files just hold a CRC32 value for the file. A CRC value is basically just a less accurate version of an MD5 checksum, its faster to produce though.

While I've never had a problem with any download from your site, the MD5 is a nice idea.

And thanks for hosting the avi's, I find the quality usually as good, if not better than the MPEG's, and when you tend to keep all of Family Guy and Futurama on your harddrive, smaller files are better. (I can handle 128Mb files, but not 30Mb RM's)
