Mind you, I heard a phrase which could _only_ be interpreted as "Are you out of your fuckin' mind?" in a Star Trek episode which I recorded off-air (DVB-T BBC2 TV transmission) just a few weeks ago.... checks which episode... Ah, yes, it was the "Elaan of Troyius" episode.

The words were spoken by Dr McCoy to Spock at the 47 minute mark (about 80 seconds before the end of the episode). The doctor's voice changes, sounding _exactly_ the same as that of a 'Good Buddy' CB friend of mine I last saw some 15 years ago. It was as if they'd dubbed a recording of a phrase, so typical of my CB friend, onto the sound track at that point.

I wasn't paying much attention to it at the time (I was recording it, after all!) but I did a double take when I suddenly heard this all too familiar phrase[1] suddenly pop up out of the general 'chatter' of the dialogue. For me, a very "spooky moment" indeed!

Unless you're watching the moving picture, it's almost impossible to interpret it as the actual scripted dialogue it was supposed to be, which, I have to assume, must have been written as "Are you out of your _Vulcan_ mind?"

[1] I guess the author of a certain music module (out of a collection of some 3,602 I acquired about 15 years ago) must have interpreted the phrase exactly as it sounds (which is why the phrase is "all too familiar" to me :-). I'd name the module, but I can't remember its name and ICBA to look for it right now.

I have a feeling this dialogue sample may have been used in another mod or two (but, that's only a feeling).
