The next three Sundays will be new (Peter "sells" Meg to Neil to pay off a prescription drug bill; Lois goes to jail after a theft spree; Lois becomes a model). I'm pretty sure that's all of them until November (unless they decide to start the new season in September, which is doubtful as Fox shows post-season baseball for three Sundays (four, if the World Series goes seven games) in October, so rather than show one or two new episodes followed by a month-long break, Fox just waits until November).

Hmmm...Change Lois with Marge and you've got the Marge in Chains episode (#9F20) from the Simpsons.

Just proves the point that there are no new ideas out there.

Not quite. Marge was arrested for inadvertantly taking something from the Kwik-E-Mart. From what I've read, Lois goes on some sort of crime spree (although you could claim that it's a combination of "Marge in Chains" and "Natural Born Kissers" (Marge and Homer have sex in places where they might get caught in the act, just for the rush).

Actually, I'm pretty sure she did in one of the Treehouse of Horror eps where the family has to stay overnight in a haunted house...and the house ends up destroying itself in poltergeist style rather than live with them.

I don't remember what happened w/ Marge...but Lois goes to jail for shoplifting, Peter breaks her out and they hide from the police (and Joe) by trying to start a new life in Asiantown.

Anyway, I am under the impression that Lois gets away with shoplifting the first time, but she enjoys the rush so much that she keeps doing it, whereas Marge inadvertantly put something in her pocket and walked out of the Kwik-E-Mart without paying for it.

Fox just announced that both "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons" will be starting their new seasons on Sept. 11. Most of the returning Fox shows will show up in September this year and take a break during baseball, rather than waiting until November. It sounds like Fox has learned their lesson from previous years, when their early fall ratings were abysmal due to reruns until November.

FOX Not Waiting to Start Season

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) In a serious departure from its strategy of recent years, FOX will launch nearly all of its 2005-06 fall schedule before the major league baseball playoffs in the hopes of building audiences before the other networks charge in with their lineups.

FOX is holding only two series, returning sitcoms "That '70s Show" and "Stacked," until after the World Series ends. Most of the rest of the schedule will roll out before the Nielsen-sanctioned beginning of the '05-'06 campaign in late September.

"We have an incredible slate this season, and we're getting out of the gate early with our new series and returning favorites in order to create maximum buzz among viewers," says Peter Ligouri, president of FOX Entertainment.

That idea represents a marked shift from the past two seasons, when the network has waited until after the schedule-disrupting baseball playoffs, which take up most of October, to unveil much of its schedule. The results of that strategy weren't too favorable, particularly last season, when FOX filled much of its fall with short-run unscripted series that brought weak ratings and left the network in fourth place at the start of 2005.

FOX's fall will kick off Monday, Aug. 29 with the two-hour premiere of "Prison Break," which will have three weeks on its own on Mondays before "Arrested Development" and the new comedy "Kitchen Confidential" join it there on Sept. 19, which will likely be the first official, Nielsen-counted day of the season. The rest of the lineup will roll out gradually over the month of September.

I'm not thrilled with FOX moving Arrested to a new time slot, but hopefully the change will help this brilliant show.

On the other hand, here's hoping the new time slot kills Malcom. I watched about 20 minutes total since it started and have found it less funny than the McNeil - Lehrer newshour.

Good God, is Mad TV still on? Oh well, still funnier than Malcom.

MitM has been one of the most consistently brilliant shows, once the writers figured out they should _not_ make the title character the central focus of the show. They can have 3 or 4 stories going on simultaneously, featuring other characters, all of whom are far more interesting than Malcolm. I really hate to see that go to Fridays, especially with such a crappy lead-in.

(Oh... looking at the awards The Bernie Mac Show has won, I guess I'm not supposed to say it's crappy.)
