(and I hope I'm not opening a can of worms here, but)
...which do you think are the UN-funniest scenes in Family Guy? ie, a scene that would embarrass you if you'd been telling a friend how great this cartoon was, and this was the only segment they ever saw.
For me, the one joke that always makes me cringe (to the point where I was grateful it immediately preceded a commercial break so I was able to rewind the tape and record the second segment over it, was in "Wasted Talent" with the "Willy Wonka" spoof. Peter is running home with joy after finding the last golden scroll in his beer and trips on the sidewalk injuring his leg. Okay, that was amusingly unexpected...but then the scene just drags on and on...and on..and on..with Peter taking a deep breath and moaning "Oooh." I forget how many times he did that, but I was bored after the third time. Heck, even with only three takes on my tape, I find myself reaching for the fast forward button.
Another scene which, although I enjoy, has me shaking my head is the spoof of the song "So Long, Farewell", from "The Sound of Music." Perhaps I shouldn't say "spoof" since, with the exception that the song is sung by the Griffen children, nothing else is different. The music is the same, the words identical...I got the impression that the show had fallen short and they needed a bit of filler to mete out the time.
Strangely however, I don't feel that way about "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" from "My Fair Lady", which Stewie sings in "Dammit Janet" (I think) when his mother is too busy with a new job to tend to him the way she normally does. Hmmmm...maybe I just don't like "The Sound of Music."
