I liked the novel CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS SHOW on Friday, because the indelible magic marker ideas are as creatively unanticipated as thinking from a boorish box gets.

I noticed that this old season 2 episode, "The Best Christmas Story Never," had something in common with the more recent "The Most Adequate Christmas Ever." The ghost in the earlier episode was a screwup named Michelle and Stan's lawyer in the later was also a screwup named Michelle.

In the DVD commentary for "The Best Christmas Story Never", the writers mention that Michelle was written into "The Most Adequate Christams Ever"; I assume the second Michelle was originally meant to be the first Michelle but was changed for some reason. (My guess: the first Michelle would have already had wings. My second guess: they couldn't get Lisa Kudrow for the role, so they decided to make it a completely different character.)

We'll probably find out when the second Christmas epsiode is on DVD; presumably, it will be on the next set, which, also presumably, will be released in April.
