from what I remember, Futurama got overshadowed by football alot hence the dropping popularity
and FG had low ratings (according to FOX), I think from what I remember it held a steady 3.5 ratings in the market, but Fox either wanted to kill this show from the very start by taking it out it's "double sweet-spot"(Right after thhe Simpsons eps Sun @7PM)--the first "sweet spot" was after the Super Bowl for it's premiere--and place it in the most deadly spot(at the time): Thursday @ 7pm, having to compete against two powerhouses "Friends" and "Survivor" also FOX hardly gave any promo to FG after awhile and the 3.5 rating was just from people who knew it was on. Also the long Hiatus in S2 made it hard for anyone to even remember that it was on.
