Family Guy Volume 2 DVD Early Thoughts

Just picked it up today, so far the quality is top notch all around. One big thing I have noticed is that the opening theme on all the episodes I have watched is the original one with Stewie saying "effin" instead of "laugh." Very odd, it totally threw me off.

I looked at Family Guy Episode Guide (http://jaymieknight.8m.com/familyguy.html) and according to that site, the new theme debuted on the season premiere episode "The Thin White Line," but on the DVD that episode has the old theme, as do all of the other episodes on Disc One except "The Kiss Seen Round The World." ("A Very Special Family Guy Freakin' Christmas" on Disc Two also has the old theme.) Now I normally don't care much about production codes and stuff like that, but I decided to check them out to see if they could help explain this. And indeed, all of the episodes that have the old theme are from the 2ACX production line (i.e. "The Thin White Line" is episode 2ACX17), which means they were leftovers from the second season. "The Kiss.." (3ACX02) was the first episode from the 3ACX (third season) production line to air, so it makes sense that it would be the first episode to have the new theme. But did the 2ACX episodes that aired during season 3 air on TV with the new theme?

Also, I seriously doubt that Stewie sang "effin cry" in the original theme. First of all, I always thought it was that...it never occured to me that he could be singing "effin" before I read about it on the Internet. And after having read about it, I've listened to the old theme carefully, and I can definetely here an "L" sound in there. And furthermore, I don't know if you know this already, but the ENTIRE theme was re-recorded from scratch...they didn't just dub a re-recorded Stewie solo in. The second most noticable difference between the two versions is that in the "He's a family guy" part, it's sung as "He's...a...fam-i-ly...guy" in the original version, while in the new version the "i" syllable in "family" is omitted. Also, most of the 3ACX episodes have a more noticably different version of the closing theme that is in a lower key and orchestrated differently (something I didn't know before thanks to Fox's generic credits).
