episode 401 added to server

just downloaded it, it's huge (220MB), but i'm currently converting it to a smaller file and i will add that to the mix when it's done.

Hi Craig I just dled it too, but I'm really new at this whole binaries thing and I can't seem to find out how to combine all the par, rar, etc files into one viewable movie file. Any help is much appreciated.

i used TMPGenc from vcdhelp.com and just made it a lower bitrate. doesnt look as good, but 217MB is pretty ridiculous (i'm glad it's available though, in case i wanted a nice copy to keep)

You can re-encode it and make it smaller, but you do realize the quality will suffer, right?

obviously but when you've got 3 seasons of episodes it doesnt help with them all being 227MB.

i downloaded my first ever episode from your server & it won't work 4 me! :o(

Using Windows Media Player version 6.4 it try to download some codec or something but couldn't find it on the net, so i got sound & no picture plus it says it only lasts 19 mins but i downloaded the whole file from your server!

Then i tried Real Player & that just froze on me!

The family guy episode i downloaded took me 5 hours to download (56k modem) as well!!!

So, needless to say, i'm not too happy! :o(

the shows are only 19-21 minutes because the commercials are cut out. what file type is it? avi? mov? rm? mpg?

i downloaded an mpg first coz i've downloaded mpg's b 4 & had no problems with them.

i've just downloaded Family Guy 101 - Death Has A Shadow.rm & that works perfectly! :o)

Sound is good, picture quality is ok considering i've only got a P233 with 64mb ram.

picture quality has nothing to do with your PC, besides choppiness. the RM format compresses things a lot which makes them look like shit, MPGs and MOVs are much better. which ep didnt work for you? i can check it out. it might have been divx and i switched it to mpg so it would open in media player, even though it still would require the divx codecs to view it.

It was Family Guy 221 - Fore Father.

got it. changed the extension to avi so it uses your divx player, or open it manually through the player. it plays in my win media player 8.0 and the playa from www.divx.com

The system doesn't affect the picture quality. It would look the same on a P4 and 256MB RAM.

unless your computer cant keep refreshing it fast enough. i had a P75 for a long time and could never watch movies, just too choppy.

but 10-20 episodes a season all sitting on your hard drive... doesnt look good to me (:
