Weird camera movements

I've noticed in some scenes, the camera makes a weird shifting movement, which for some reason looks unnatural and somewhat distracting. Here's some examples:

-When Joe and son are rolling down the ski slope -When Peter and Brian are in the gravity chamber in "Wasted Talent," and the camera shifts to the top to show the deadly blades -In "Lethal Weapon," Stewie shoves Brian off-camera during the family fight.

There's plenty more, but those come to mind right off-hand. It looks like the camera usually moves for any swift actions. I've noticed it on Simpsons as well. Anyone care to explain this?

I believe these weird "camera movements" are caused when the actual frame is much larger than displayed and rather than film a few frames to do a pan of the frame manually, they digitally pan the frame on a computer. If you are talking about what I think you are that is.

Yeah, but they're not cameras in the traditional television sense...or as they are being referred to in this discussion...
