Viewer mail?

So what happened to the "Brian answers viewer mail" part of the episode? The episode guide says the ep title is "Viewer Mail #1", but there didn't seem to be any viewer mail at all!

Originally, before each episode, Brian would read a letter from the mailbag...but it got cut for time. They were all "joke" mails...the first one was something like "You should do an episode with a genie..everyone loves genies..signed, Barbara Eden"

That pretty funny! Shame these were taken out though. Where these sequences completed or just didn't get off the storyboard? Sucks what timing can do for a show in this case. Do you know what the other two were Greg? Would at least be something new I've learned about today (much like listening to these moments from audio commentary tracks).

I think the second letter was from the Superfriends....I forget the
third...those sequences were boarded.  If they ever did a FG DVD special
edition, I'd love for the entire animatics to be included too, since there
is SO much that gets cut and/or changed before the episodes are final.
There's even finished animation that gets completely changed.  I was pretty
shocked when Peter's first wish was to see Kelly and Regis off the
set.......the version I saw (and drew) had Peter's first wish as wishing
Jackie Gleason came back from the dead...and he literally did, as a flesh
eating zombie...he started eating Lois' head and went "HOW SWEET IT
IS"...Peter knocked his arm off w/ a fire-place rod thingie, Chris picked it
up and said it would go with his Ernie Kovacs eyeball....Stewie pulls out a
bazooka and says "Bang...Zoom...To the moon" and blows the zombie
away....then it goes to the theme music wish.  I can see why they changed it
though...the point of the short was the boneless thing, and getting to that
sooner made more sense.  --

Still, sounds pretty obvious that they were like that. I assume the thrid one was from one of the members of Our Gang as well.

That would be a killer DVD to get. Perhaps I should write to FOX suggesting that idea.

This would make a great deleted scene on the DVD. Would be a shame if they pass this one up and do a regular DVD release like the one in the UK. Seeing what they did with the first Simpsons DVD set was truely great with the additional materials (such as excerpts from the original pilot that had to be redone).

Pretty much. Liked how it reminded me of these films I watched that tried to suggest what it might be like if you didn't have any bones at all. Never thought about how groetesque it would look like. ^_^

Still, they did had to go to that part to save time from using the longer Jackie Gleason zombie scene. There's something I'd like to find on the net someday.

That sounds so cool. I hope if ever the DVDs come out, that the changed footage like that gets used. Sounds like you did a good job on it, anyway! Were you disappointed of the change?

Nah, I thought the Regis and Kelly joke was funnier and much quicker..so it allowed the story to get to the other wishes quicker.
