question about divx

I'm asking this to anyone who might know (pssst... Craig). I have a lot of VCD compatable episodes, but have no VCD player. I just want to keep them on my hard drive. Is there a way I can squeze the file size down from 217MB an ep to around 50MB without losing quality. Please let me know. I've tried useing flaskMPEG but I cant seem to find the kbps control. I'm used to ripping dvds so the kbps is set very high (dont need it that high for cartoons). Any help would be appriciated. I usually download VCD because the quality is better. Just wondering if I can make it divx.

If I squeezed your body down to a quarter of its original size, you'd be a miniature blob of discolored bumps. Same with video files. I'd recommend making 100MB divx (avi) files of each, they won't look too much different. Try to find some converter tools at www.vcdhelp.com (ie, TMPEngc or something)
