Would you prefer they not show the Road to RI or show the edited version?

Personally, I say just don't show it. The edited version was an abortion and there's plenty of good eps to see.

It's like watching an old Tom and Jerry with Mammy's voice edited out or a Bugs Bunny cartoon with shots of him taking sleeping pill cut out to protect the little crumb-crunching ankle-biters

That's intense man, I had no idea even the precious bugs bunny cartoons we all grew up watching were soiled by the fingers of "people of who care" as well.

What the hell would a kid understand of that scene? The historical information is important and is the only way to misconstrue it as being bad. If anything, a kid would laugh at the scene's outrageousness and nothing else.

The point was addressed perfectly in the movie Ghost World, starring Thora Birch. Thora's friend had an offensive advertising poster for "Coon Chicken" -- a restaurant chain that became "Cook's Chicken" -- that featured a black man's face with huge lips and big white teeth, etc. When it was displayed at an art exhibit, protests forced its removal. The way they phrased the event in the movie was that people should look at past images and such now considered offensive, because it reminds us of why we consider this to be offensive...to actually think about the issue. Shocking! But it's so much easier to erase the image from our collective memory, and to not think.

It's hard to REALLY erase it from mine. I've grown up thinking of Aunt Jemina as having that bandana over her head and those outlandish earrings to match, I really miss that image a lot!

There's one Chinese take-out at a supermarket that has a bad Chinese characterature painted on it's wall, and yet I don't do anything about it, I just like to keep my mouth shut about things like that.

Ghost World is a fantastic dark comedy/drama about two teenage misanthropic girls and how they start growing apart after HS....among other stuff. Pretty much, these scenes were axed since the Nick airings in the early '90s. I remember them being there in the '80s.

There has been a VHS release with this cartoon uncut sometime around '93. Can't remember the title offhand, but it was mostly Yosemite Sam cartoons anyway.
