What this group needs.

Okay, I have been a family guy fan since the first eps...and I agree that at time it can be funnier then the simpsons. Most of the stuff I ever see on this group are people slamming the series or people asking where then can download the eps, or talking about the series in a past-tence (sold to UPN).

What this group NEEDS are people reviewing the eps...and TALKING ABOUT THEM. Sure there are there are once and while questions about past eps but not really about the eps that was just shown.

Then there are these people who basicly say "Enjoy the show while you have it cause it isn't going to be around for much longer."...why do you even respond to them? Those threads have the longest in this group! All you do it quip at this trolls which is what they WANT...If you don't respond they will go away.

I just don't want this group to go the way of the Critic. Never talking about the series...just talking about all the ways it could have been better or past eps that they act like they need to remember in order to fully enjoy the show (remember that eps where ..... now that was funny!)

Thanks Eric! We need more positive thinking in this newsgroup! The Family Guy makes up one of the best half-hours in prime time TV! It's finally in a decent timeslot where it has a chance. Keep talking and maybe Fox will listen!

As a Usenet veteran, let me take the time to educate any newbies out there:

To be honest, I wouldn't exactly call opposite the 2nd half of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" a decent slot, but there are worse ones, and even if you like both shows, what are VCRs for?

Yep...they need to know that there is a loyal FG audience out there who truly enjoys the show. Take a look at these facts:

- All in the Family did poorly in the ratings its first half-season..but once it was moved to Sat. at 9 PM, it moved all the way to #1 and stayed there for 5 consecutive seasons - NBC thought Saturday Night Live would never work...25 years later, it's still going strong, and until Mad TV, it was the only Sat. late night network series on the air - Party of Five's ratings were horrible its first season...but Fox stuck w/it, and it's now coming to the end of a successful six-year run

Opposite the most popular show in the country? More like a "how can we put this show to its death?" slot. Face it, you guys like this show more than FOX does. Rupert Murdoch owns FOX and Murdoch does not tolerate losers and, as the weekly numbers continue to indicate, Family Guy is a loser.

Neilsen doesn't give a crap about VCRs. Or petitions for that matter.

No, ratings were never a part of the scope of that document.

But one thing Seinfeld had going for it was friends in high places at NBC. Once they decided to air it on Thursday's after Cheers, the rest was TV history. If anyone at FOX really gave a crap about Family Guy, it wouldn't have been shuffled from one guaranteed-to-fail time slot to another. FOX plugged the crap out of it during the Super Bowl, enough to make sure people were sick and tired of it before the pilot even aired, and since then FG has been treated as the network's red-headed stepchild, which is doing it's best to alienate the few who bother to watch in the first place.

Another thing Seinfeld had going for it was a fresh concept, one that hadn't already been done to death before it aired its first episode.

I'm gonna be honest...Seinfeld bored the HELL outta me.

That is just plain wrong. Nielsen (note spelling) does give a crap about VCRs. They meter every VCR in every household they monitor.

Please check the facts before you post.
