Not exactly planning on it being a success though :

"Fox is making another arguably conservative move on Thursday at 8 p.m., bringing back the cartoon Family Guy, which had been cancelled after the 1999-2000 season. Grushow said the time slot, with Survivor on CBS and Friends on NBC, is probably the week's toughest."

Perhaps a case of "look, we need to have SOMETHING opposite Friends & Survivor, and we've paid for these episodes so we might as well use them"?

I think they're being realistic. They know that Friends and Survivor have solid audiences and they can't beat em, so they're not even going to try; Fox would just be wasting their time if they put a new big expensive show on Thurs, so it makes sense to just run a pretty cheap show like Family guy on that night.

Cheap? Animation is NOT cheap....they'd really be better off putting Family Guy and The Tick after That 70's Show....it would be a killer lead in, plus there are cross over actors on all 3 shows (Mila Kunis is Jackie and Meg, Patrick Warburton is Joe and The Tick)

Actually, 9 of those Episodes are still leftovers from Season 2....I'm not sure if they're going to play them in order (although for the most part, the order really doesn't matter)....but here's a little hint on how to tell the 3rd Seasons eps from 2nd season - Chris has no earings. :)

Hopefully Fox will be rational and not hold Family Guy accountable when you just CAN'T beat Survivor and Friends....The WB knew they had a great show w/ Gilmore Girls and supported it, even if it was in the Thursday Death-slot....lets hope Fox will stick w/ the show this time.
