Does anyone know what Stewie's rendition of Elton John's Rocketman was in reference to? He doesn't do it at all like the original song (which isn't spoken word at all), and I've heard William Shatner do the exact same thing, using the very similar lyrics and music. (The music, and to a lesser extent, lyrics in both of them vary from the original song.)
So what's the connection?
BTW, it was in s3e05, "And the Wiener is...".

It's a parody of the on Shatner did in the 70s, which is floating round as a bootleg....
Now I just have to find the Shatner one....
