Family Guy R2 DVD

Hi, I am in the USA and I just bought the Family Guy Region 2 DVD off of amazon.co.uk. I was wondering what you guys thought of the DVD.

You can find region-free players all over ebay as well as various web sites; my Apex model is discontinued, but Daewoo seems to make some good ones. Make sure you get one that can play PAL (UK video format) discs on NTSC (US video format) TVs. This PAL-to-NTSC conversion means that the picture will not be as clear as most DVDs, but it's not all that bad.

The DVD box says that the shows are uncut; I don't know the shows by heart, but I haven't noticed any reason to doubt that.

I also think that watching two episodes off the disc right before watching Futurama and The Simpsons this past Sunday made Groening's shows seem especially lame. But I don't know any show that's strong enough to stand up to Family Guy, except maybe Titus.

I've just bought the DVD and I've been watching it all day. I think it's totally fuggin hilarious...the disc is good quality, and it's brilliant to have the entire season in one DVD (well...2 discs but you know what I mean).

When are they bringing out season 2...any ideas?

Yeah. My former roommate used to watch it and I'd get maybe one laugh per show, same as most sitcoms for me, except for the 1st season of That 70's Show. Sitcoms are so formulaic. You can spot the jokes approaching the runway from miles away.

If you live in the UK or if you know anyone in the UK, you can get it in HMV for about �14.99 because of the January sales...

If I were you, get it this month rather than the next, as it's probably more expensive in other places in the UK because of our sales.

Which HMV would that be? I paid �24.99 in London for it, and checked the Newcastle Upon Tyne branch and it was the same price. :( Ho hum, less money for beer!

Err....well I paid �14.99 for the DVD in HMV in Swansea, South Wales.

I tried that web site first, but they dont ship to the USA. Do you think anybody could hook me up with a cheap copy of the Futurama DVD when it comes out?

!! there won't be such a thing-at least in the UK. it's going to be the same price as the simpsons series was �35.99 -convert that to dollars for a nasty surprise. that's why i bought the r1 simpsons release but there's no r1 futurama box to buy.

The box sets usually rip you off...the Season 2 box set for South Park is �50.
