Seth MacFarlane's "The Life of Larry" now online

Now you can check out the student film that inspired "Family Guy". "The Life of Larry" was produced by Seth MacFarlane in 1995 while he was studying animation at the Rhode Island School of Design. This brought him to the attention of Hanna-Barbera, where he directed a short for Cartoon Network featuring the stars of TLOL, "Larry and Steve". "The Life of Larry" short was later discovered by producers of Fox's "Mad TV", and they asked MacFarlane if they could air it as four short segments. Although that deal fell through, Fox executives pressed him to create a series, and the rest is history. (Much of the material in this short was later recycled in various FG episodes.)

Aah, I've got it now. You're thinking of "Larry and Steve", the Hanna- Barbera "What-a-Cartoon!" short. This is a completely different 10- minute film featuring live-action segments with Seth and his Asian houseboy, an early Chris prototype, and a special appearance by Newt Gingrich.
