The Winner

I am not positive but The Winner might be the worst TV show I have ever seen and that says a lot

I TiVO'd it....just to give it a shot, and I couldn't make it through 2 minutes before I deleted it.

The only good thing about The Winner is, for TiVO users, NASCAR ran long Sunday (6 minutes long), and if I hadn't TiVO'd The Winner, I would have missed the last 6 minutes or so of FG.

At first I thought it might be in the same vein at one of my all time fav shows Get A Life with the old guy still living at home and some outrageous situations but it was about as over the top and cutting edge as Full House. But I figure by the time this is posted it will be put out of it's misery.

I like Seth, I like Rob Corddry, but this was hard to watch.

Why set in 1994? So all the "period" jokes are now (supposedly) funny due to "hindsight". The only problem is - they're not funny, they're sad attempts at humor. OJ Simpson jokes? We're about 15 years past that joke now....leave it in the past.

Later in the show, when it settled down a bit and tried to get on with the premise, it got *slightly* better....but not much.

Some of the sex jokes (I have nothing against sex!) were just cringe-inducing because of the kid. This was not the kind of talk I want to hear between an adult man and a kid.

I was uncomfortable, and comedy should make me feel happy and loose, not uncomfortable and worried. (Rob gave off the air of "pedophile" - I'm sure it was unintentional - at least I HOPE it was unintentional!)

I've been loyally watching _Famiy Guy_ since 1999, when it was an obscure FOX show that kept getting preempted and moved around as opposed to the cult favorite that came back from the dead it became later. I set up a rule on my MythTV system to record all episodes of _The Winner_. I did not make it through the first three minutes of the pilot before I deleted it, the second episode, and the recording rule.

At first I quite liked the pilot. I thought it was somewhat funny, and I saw a bit of myself in the character... but after watching the past few episodes it's just become plain stupid and annoying. This guy acting like he's actually 12 years old is just getting so grating. He's not an adult that still feels 12 years old at heart, he's an adult whose emotional maturity and intelligence level never developed past 12 years. *Click*

Is it worse than "The War At Home"?

Or that fox show with the family that has bad luck, or that early 90s later 80s show about a dark age family being in current times?
