The line was "...If I sit through this, I get anal," referring to his anal-retentive nature about housework.
It is an important difference, your way prolly would not make it past the censors.
i think that was the point... that he wasn't being dirty, but he sounded like it. on the radio today i heard someone refer to new year's eve activities as "sitting at home watching dick, waiting for the ball to drop" when of course it wasnt as dirty as it sounded.
of course the "dick" refrenced would be the Ever Immortal Dick Clark "Craig" wrote in message news:[email]...

I thought the line was hilarious, really great writing. However, as a father of two kids, 10 and 14, I think that is pretty dirty for a show airing at 8:00 (and a cartoon, no less).
I believe that U.S. TV can get racier (and indeed it is, slowly), but the dirty stuff needs to start later, probably at 10.
Ren and Stimpy was a show that I always watched with the kids. It was very gross at times, but still OK for kids. I don't let me kids watch South Park, although I think it can be very, very funny (and I watch it often, but not religiously), it is often dirty (sexual). But, at least SP comes on late at night, where it belongs. Family Guy comes on at 8, and I usually tape it and watch it late at night. I would be concerned, though, if the kids "discovered" FG. Especially, with a great joke like the ANAL one. (How would you explain that one to the kids?) UB

tell them what it meant within the real context of the show?-i.e overly fussy.

That might be a mistake... Kid: Daddy bought me ice cream because I told him he could get anal tonight.
Meaning, of course, that the kid was gonna clean their room to their fathers overly fussy standards of cleanliness in exchange for an ice cream cone. A lot of people have sick minds and might take that to mean something else...
I know that when I was younger I knew a lot of stuff that my mother didn't think I knew. I bet your 14 year old already knows about anal. You pick up a lot at school and on the internet... Unless, you're Jemima's Witnesses...
The morals that are foisted upon TV are somewhat ludicrous. South Park likes to poke fun of that, which I thoroughly enjoy.
Bradley Remember, no fucking swearing.
I can watch FG, Simpsons, etc with my son, and most of those jokes just go over his head without a blink. If he asks (rare) I just explain it within the content of the plot.

Like I said, my kids are 10 and 14. At 10, I might be able to get away with what you suggest... at 14, FORGET IT!

Well, then maybe you could consider having an honest and intelligent discussion about such things. It would be better than teaching your kid to be afraid to talk about some things.
Although I do think Fox is nuts for putting Family Guy on at 8 (7 Central).

While it is ever important to have an honest intelligent discussion about such things with your kid, anal sex might not be the best place to open your birds and the bees talk.
*shrug* so long as they keep it on I am more than happy.

Supposedly a lot of teens these days keep their virginity by doing everything but intercourse. Some stuff which used to be considered even more out there than sex itself.

Hopefully, when the kid is 14, you're past the opening statement stage. Besides, who is better to discuss the subject with the kid? He's going to hear about it at school anyway.
ditto what Kimba said. actually my son is 14 also and what doesn't go over his head he doesn't require an explanation of. "underbush" wrote in message news:[email]...

Also ditto on what Kimba said... If your kid is 14, then he probably knows about it anyway, either that or you could give him a simple explanation, I don't think it would really offend him or make him think 'dirty thoughts', he is 14 not 10. As for your other son, I probably would have done the same in not letting him watch FG, but the guys are right, the jokes would probably go over his head, they'll fly past and he wouldn't even blink an eye.
I'm 18...and all I can say is, that at 14, I knew exactly what analy retentive meant. I do admit that some of the material in FG does not exactly offend, but it makes you look up... things such as "We're off the air....well, I've just had sex with Diane, and I just don't like black people...", but at 8pm, they're allowed I suppose, as it's the watershed time (or at least in the UK it is).
I'm not saying you're being over protective of your 14 year old, and don't even think that I'm questioning your parenting, as I'm not whatsoever, but he is going to hear or see something like this sooner or later, you can't make sure that he doesn't hear it forever.

Explaining the other connotation of anal in that line will be a piece of cake after that.
