Yeah it's considered OK to make fun of Bin Laden, but the joke in question is actually making fun of Bin Laden and airport security so it might be just a bit too much.

I agree. Making a joke is one thing, but that scene (albeit funny) originally aired well before the attacks. I don't think it would be appropriate. Now they could still include the Stewie portion of it when he is singing showtunes. The bin Laden part shouldn't be aired.

Seriously... I guess you haven't read the new reports about how many weapons are _still_ getting through airport security. I think the joke is more appropriate now than when it was written.

We're starving for some comedy with balls out here... and I'm not talking about just saying "balls". I'd like to see some TV that's not afraid that someone's Aunt Matilda might get the vapors over an actual satirical point.

Of course, having that kind of balls would mean that "Weinstein" would get on the air...

This is completely ridiculous. It was OK to show a plane crashing into the side of the world trade centre, show both bulidings collapsing on the news a hundred thousand times, and show people jumping out of the windows of the buildings and plumetting to what was almost certain death? No one had a problem when Jay Leno made a bunch corny jokes about the whole thing. But this scene is not appropriate to be viewed by anyone? What's the worst that's gonna happen? Someone will say "Oh, that was in poor taste". If you're watching family guy, you probably don't think that too many things are in poor taste!

I was watching the simpsons the other day and before the episode came on, there was a warning saying that the episode depicted the world trade centre and that some viewers may be too sensitive to watch it! I don't get it. Does it really bother people that much still? I mean, are people slashing their wrists left and right because they see the world trade centre on TV? Are the nation's children turing to teenage sex and drugs because they showed this episode of the simpsons? The news is constantly bombarding people with crap about what happened. It was on tv for a week straight! Is it really so bad to poke a little fun at what happened six months later?

Maybe you guys misunderstood me. I agree it is a very funny episdoe. And, a little eerie that it aired well before the attacks and bin Laden became infamous. i am just saying that maybe they should just use a little tact with that one 5 second part. I say air the scene, but maybe change the bin Laden name to some generic Arab name. I don't know. Doesn't matter to me since I have it on tape from before. It will be interesting to see what they do though.
