It's a shame that Fox put all its eggs in the so-far overwhelmingly disappointing That 80's Show and leaves the good shows out to dry by putting them against ratings juggernauts like Friends and Survivor.
I hope they don't make a decision until the Emmy announcements because there will certainly be some noms.

Ditto. Seems as if marketing is always responsible for finding ways to make or break a series for the network if and when they see fit. Sometimes I wonder if those secret test screenings they sometimes do also contributes to these marketing decisions?
Then they'll pull that one off in three months, and try to sub in some repeat of another popular show to tide them in for the Summer duration, then they'll unleash yet-another new show that would probably get canned after a month's worth of episodes and they'll be at the same position again, and again, and again, and again, and again..... (infinitive, isn't it?)
I still find it sad that this has happened to such a good show I did watch. I wish I had sent in my letter to the nework for the campaign, just didn't get to it in time. Just didn't think my letter would do anything with them at all (someone once said "One person can't make a difference" but I don't know where that was from).
Now with that out of the way, what are the possibilities for this show now in rerun form? If it was seen again on TV, I hope they at least consider FX. It's an OK channel, but I think it would work for them anyway. Would suck if they'll have to re-edit the series for syndicated purposes, let's hope to GOD that never happens?
This might also put a damper to a possible DVD release of the show as well in this country (you guys in the UK, I give my highest regard that you are DAMN lucky!). I can't say if this might turn into another Star Trek-like scenario where fans continue to flood Fox's mailbox with letters demanding to continue/broadcast/release the show anyway possible, but if it does happen, you've heard it here first. (someday, someone might read this on Google, and say how proud they are that I've was the first to suggest it)
I could say the same thing about UK shows, too... The country that makes the show tends to sit on it for a while, hoping to make the syndication route.
It's not just FG, it's many other shows as well. The production companies tend to try to create artificial value by hoarding the program for a period of time in an attempt to get higher bids for syndication rights. Europe doesn't have a lucrative syndication market like the US, so they typically get DVD's of a season soon after that season ends.
Solution: Get a region-hackable DVD player that does format (PAL->NTSC) conversion. You can then order DVD's from overseas at will. I've done this so far with Family Guy and Stargate-SG1. Ironically, it's the cheaper sub-$100 Chinese-no-name brands (Apex, Daewoo, Oritron...) that work best. Big brand name players tend to be much less hackable.
