Craig: Could you get some mileage out of your collection if you change all the file names so that don't look like anything with a copyright? That way the admins would not know what you were up to unless they actually viewed the files and then they too would grow to love the show and then they couldn't shut you down.

When they noticed that despite removing all of these files my bandwidth stays the same, they'll download one then for sure I'll get my nice 10Mbps connection suspended indefinitely just so I could have my computer slowed down for another week or so by people I don't even know. Sound appetizing?

You could run an FTP server, have non-anonymous login, then the admins would have to go about another means to cut down your usage. Perhaps, they'll cut everyone's connection down to 128kbps and it would be all your fault for abusing their generosity.
Perhaps it would have been / might be better to use an FTP server on your computer. I like Serv-U, and it allows limiting overall bandwidth taken up by users (might be useful for staying lower-profile).
In any event, I don't think anyone should be pestering you to keep trying to share your files now that the school is aware of the situation; I'm sure there's plenty of other folks who could share FG eps if they put forth a little effort. :)
If you were able to run a web server, couldn't you just run an FTP server on port 80, the same one as HTTP? Or does the HTTP request have to go through a proxy?
I think the 4.2Terabytes might mean more to them in shutting his site down. That is a lot of bandwidth. They would know what was going on just by looking at the site stats for a month.
i think everyone needs to applaud craig for everything he has done in the past and leave him and his exhausted bandwidth alone.
there are plenty more ppl out there with the episodes and i have this suggestion to make about a way we could all start sharing.
the best thing about craigs server was the fact that he had just about every episode in the one place, and they where all the same quality. trying to download using different methods all over the net leads to a big mess when u have mov/asf/avi/mpg/rm files with sizes ranging from 30-300mb.
what ya'll need is some organisation. mirrored websites with a set of links to specific files with checksums that are hosted by many different ppl, thereby stopping one poor guy getting in trouble for his huge bandwidth sucking.
someone hosts 1-10 another person 11-15, someone else 16-20. however many eps u can afford to host. all linked together by the aforementioned websites.
i dunno, maybe this is all just wishful thinking. i dont mean for this to be flamebait, just a suggestion. ill be interested to see what kind of comments i get either way.
That's a good idea. I would recommend making them into RAR archives since downloading large files from HTTP is very difficult to do accurately. With RAR you'll probably only need to redownload one small file, not the whole show. And the MD5's are a must, I can't tell you how many e-mails I got about "it stops 10 seconds into it" before I added them.
