Hi All,
I just saw the American Dad pilot. It's got promise, but it didn't knock me out the way Family Guy does. It is obviously a Seth project just in the animation style and humor. The characters seemed a tad formulaic, even though the fish did have a certain charm-how many shows have a sex maniac fish as a main character?
Anyone else seen it? impressions?

I have to agree. Definately has potential. If I hadn't fallen in love with Family Guy before seeing this, I would have been rolling on the floor. Like the alien thru the table...nowhere near as funny as Peter Griffin going thru the table after taking a lick of butter rum ice cream. The fish is an interesting character. a third Stewie's sarcasm, a third Brian's wit and a third Peter crudeness.

Just watched it.. didnt think it was all that great, but this is only a pilot. I assume the real show will be alot funnier. I heard the fish was French did they change his nationality or was the advance info wrong anyone know?

I predict it will be gone within eight weeks, and "Family Guy" will return to the Fox schedule earlier than next summer to replace it.
Oh come on, why be so negative. Holy crap, watch a couple episodes before you bash it.....it benefits fans to have both shows on the air....between both shows you're get 48 episodes of good stuff! That should make up for the last few Griffenless years.

I enjoyed the pilot! I showed it also to a friend of mine and he digged it royally (also insisting he'll give this a good watch once it's on the air). My favorite parts in the pilot were obviusly the introduction of the characters, and when the father comes home with the decaying 19 year old dog, who tries to relieve himself. (it reminded me a lot of cartoons where a cow couldn't give milk, the best coming out of her utters was dust).
Cool...but for those who didn't like the pilot, I guarantee that the ACTUAL show itself is waaaay better than that pilot. I'm very impressed w/ the writing - the scripts are cracking me up, and there are some very talented artists working their asses off.

The original posts were about the pilot being mediocre....I work at the studio,and just wanted to offer my opinon that the actual FULL episodes themselves are very very funny and way better than the presentation pilot. You quoted me, and then commented on the pilot, completely disregarding what I had said. If you didn't care what I said, you shouldn't have quoted it.

Just because you feel that the full episodes are better doesn't mean that I won't comment on the quality of the pilot. Nope, we love musical sequences!!!! :) Actually....within the first 12 episodes (that's what we're up to) , I can only recall 1 "real" musical number....there's a few shorter joke songs.......and those are really funny.
