I missed this ep on TV, but managed to find it on the web, and I just about fell off my chair at this one:

"I've licked my share of peanut butter..."

This occurs when Brian is asked to direct the porno, and he explains that he isn't comfortable doing this kind of work.

It's a *very* obscure reference to an urban legend about a man who plans a surprise party for his wife for her birthday - he and the friends and family wait down in the basement, and hear her come home. In a few minutes she is heard calling to the dog, ostensibly to feed him.. She comes down the stairs to the basement looking for the dog, and turns on the light - and everyone sees she is naked and has smeared peanut butter on her.. um... y'know. For the dog to.. um... y'know.

I almost died! This show just keeps rocking!

Same thing referenced in the movie "Roadtrip", when talking about what constitues cheating on your girlfriend.

Kyle: "I got one. It's not cheating if you spread peanut butter on your balls and have your dog lick it off"

I've heard this "peanut butter incident" story before it is a legend I just did not know it was this popular :) "Gare" wrote in message news:[email]...

Chocolate can be lethal for dogs and cats. The Humane Society suggests that pet owners wishing to engage in this type of activity should use Crisco or a carab-based chocolate substitute. ;)

I've heard that, but I've owned about a dozen dogs and fed all of them chocolate, and none displayed any ill effects (a very fat basset hound I had as a child was known to polish off a half a bag of Hershey's Kisses at one sitting)...I suspect that this is hype similar to the peanut allergy crap; remember, this is the same "Humane" Society that advocates wholesale animal castration (haven't they heard of vasectomies?)...

Just for the record, the Humane Society warning was a joke, though I wouldn't be surprised if something like that actually existed. As for the chocolate, I'm not a vet, but I try not to take chances with my own two dogs. I figure the mice and frogs and dead turtles they scarf down pose enough health hazards without adding anything else. :)

I've heard about chocolate being deadly to dogs too, and I wish it were true... one year we were looking after my brother's friend's dog and it ate my chocolate birthday cake the day before my birthday. At the time I really wished it had killed him.

According to my vet (whom I bumped into this afternoon), and this website (http://www.superk9.com/articles/feed1.asp), chocolate's a no-no because of theobromine, though the effects vary quite a bit depending on the specific kind of chocolate, the amount consumed, and the weight/health of the dog.

For anyone interested in useless trivia, there was a Dilbert comic strip in which Dilbert's mom gave Dogbert some chocolate cake, and Scott Adams was flooded with letters about dogs and the ill effects of chocolate.

And for more useless trivia:

Weird things my dogs have eaten & survived: Entire bowl of nacho cheese dip Entire bowl of avocado-mango puree Remote control Copy of "The Collected Works of Robert Service" Earplugs Most of a linoleum kitchen floor Blue ink pen (had some neat looking after effects!) Mice, chipmunks, moles, dead birds, dead turtles, dead frogs, etc. 3.5" floppy disc

My 12 pound dog once ate a nearly-full package of Oreo double stuff cookies. She looked like a little barrel. Didn't get sick at all.
