What are the writers doing nowadays?

Just curious. I've noticed a couple of things on The Simpsons that were very "Family Guy-esque". I hope they're doing well.

I've noticed the last couple of Simpsons episodes have had a slightly different flavor to them... a harder edge. They were actually a couple of the best episodes that I've seen in years.

REALLY doubtful. It's not a secret that the Simpsons people had nothing but contempt for FG. Simpsons showrunners Joel Coen and Tim Long expressed as such in a forum in Toronto last year.

That was a stab a Family Guy critizing the show. They were calling Peter a Homer Simpson ripoff.

He is but he isn't. Basically, just picture a Family Guy episode but replace Peter with Homer in your mind. Some scenes would make sense, and he would still be fairly in character. But most he wouldn't. You can also do the reverse and replace Homer with Peter.

And let's not forget the Simpsons PBS episode where Betty White said something about "keeping low-brow humor on the air" as she turns off a TV with the Family Guy logo on it.

the Homer/ Peter clone thing reminds me of how Stern acts toward Opie & Anthony and other shock jocks the Simpsons were first but think everyone rips them off as does Stern

FG was way ahead of its time and Simpsons are stuck in 1989 yes Simpsons are still on the air (scratching head in amazement)
