When Family Guy comes back in November, make it a point to write to all of the advertisers during the show and let them know you appreciate them supporting it, and you will be supporting them in return. Advertising dollars are really what can make or break a show. Did you know that some kook got advertisers to pull out of Family Guy the first time? (Wow, that sounds dirty.) That would have contributed to its being moved around and not shown for so long. Advertisers are leery of being associated with an offensive show -- they need to know they made the right choice.
Write to FG advertisers when it returns

sounds like US tv is screwed up! here in the UK advertisers can choose to buy slots from the network during prime shows-coronation street, the news etc but with that comes a general package which results in the advertisments being sprinkled throughot any number of shows. if the company tried to stop their adverts airing during a particular show the channel would probably tell them to fuck off.

That sounds like a really good system. On the other hand, I would like to know which advertisers pulled out of family guy so that I will know not to buy anything from them ever again. Does anyone know which companies did?

Here's the article I saw: http://www.planetfamilyguy.com/goto/articles/article04.shtml
It says: "A long list of current and potential sponsors now say they will not advertise in the show, including such big advertisers as Sprint, Chrysler, The Gap, Kellogg, Pepsi, Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonald's." Another article adds Phillip Morris (http://www.planetfamilyguy.com/goto/articles/article10.shtml).
**But ,be aware this was back in July 99. Hopefully those advertisers will be on board when FG returns this fall. (In fact, let's write them now and ask them to be, instead of waiting until Nov. 8.)
Philip Morris quote: "it is not consistent with our values as a company." LMAO!! Yeah, Philip Morris has got some great values.
Hey, maybe that's why they blasted tobacco companies so bad. Maybe we shouldn't bother with Philip Morris for the writing campaign...

Well, I already didn't like Pepsi, McDonald's (Carl's Jr. is much, much better) and KFC anyway...
I like Pepsi, but I can switch to Coke.
Let's have a look at the others:
Sprint: Wrong country Chrysler: Like I could afford a car anyway The Gap: I already hate the GAP. Why are people willing to pay so much more for clothes, just so they can have some annoying person constantly asking if they need service?
Kellogg: Hmm... well 6/7 isnt' bad. KFC: Pepto Bismal is so expensive, I can't afford to eat there. McDonald's: I can switch to A&W.
This part pretty much screws it up for a lot of companies, since they own Kraft and Miller Beers (among dozens of others). For a full list, check here:

(And those are just the main categories--click on each division to get the full lists. It's pretty incredible.)

Ugh, yeah, but the whole tobacco thing turns me off.
I also pretty much detested all those "Phillip Morris is NOT Evil!!!" commercials. ~_~
