Hello...
I am new here, and i have noticed a thread that is talking about cutting things out of the show in the uk.
what are they cutting? i am in canada, and we get full episodes, but i was under the impression that in the UK people were actually LESS conservative than here (ie, topless sun girl in the newspaper, benny hill)... so i am surprised that they would cut out something form a PG-13 cartoon! (here, the television ratings peg it at 14+)

yes tv is generally more liberal here in the UK but only after a certain time of day-usually 8pm is when it can start to increase,9pm is the 'watershed' and then after 10pm stronger material is allowed. sadly the uk tv companies who show family guy schedule it at totally innapropriate times. channel 4 shows it around 1pm on saturdays and sky one have been showing it at 6.30 pm-hence the cuts. they can't seem to get their head around the concept that maybe an animation doesn't have to automatically be aimed at 10 year olds.
You say that, but SKY & Ch4 do show South Park after 10pm.

What's suitable for broadcast (especially on non-mainstream TV) does seem fluctuate massively at the moment. As I write this, MTV2 is playing the video to Weezer's Hash Pipe. Of course, they edit the word 'hash' and pretend the song is called 'Half Pipe' instead. And this from the channel that about a year ago had no qualms at playing a full, uncensored, version of the Beastie's Sabotage ("I've got this fucking thorn in my side." et al) at 3pm.
Meanwhile, last night's BrassEye Paedogeddon Special is doubtlessly keeping the complaints department of Channel 4 in on overtime, and we still can't hear a cartoon character say 'whipped cream' (Family Guy: The Road To Rhode Island, 15 minutes and three seconds in, minutae fans).
I say we plan a covert operation to steal the rights to Family Guy from Sky One, and give them to Play UK.

i remember when chocolate salty balls was in the charts, i was in woolworths and this 10 year old kid was asking his mum to buy it 4 him.
I don't think the US ever got that as a single. The only CD single I saw of it was from the UK. (and I wish I had bought it too!!)
Mr Hanky the Christmas Poo was also released as a single in the UK as well!

In general, most people in the U.S. do not buy singles anymore. That's probably the main reason why the U.S. did not see such. Anyone who wanted to own that bought the full album. I don't know about other countries, but CD singles are way overpriced here. I think that's by design to encourage the purchase of the full albums.
The thing is, I'm a collector. I collect most anything related to any show I'm obsessed with. Hell, had I had the $9 for the import single I woulda got it. Singles are really neat when you're a collector of music by certain bands. Oh, you don't have to tell me! I'm like that too. I was just giving my opinion of why the singles weren't released in the U.S. Most people are not like collectors like us, and you have to sell a lot to get the distribution channels here to even consider such a release, cuz they're too busy trying to find the next NSYNC or other trash that sells en masse. The fact that the tracks *are* available here on the full album probably killed the singles. Again, most people will not pay $5 for a CD-single when they can get the whole album for $12, or even way less on eBay (used).
