Jerks policing eBay

Anyone ever try to sell Family Guy stuff on eBay? There are a couple of jerks who think they are the eBay police that are bidding on everything Family Guy. They really need something better to do.

If you're trying to profit off Seth McFarlene's work by selling illegal VCDs, then yes, you should go through such frustration.

on that note, where are we supposed to get the show from? it's getting cancelled, and a dvd hasn't been released in north america yet (as far as I know), and I don't think a VHS has been either. where can we turn for family guy? (not defending, just asking)

While getting an R2/PAL compatible DVD player isn't THAT hard (it's MUCH easier than getting a VCR that can convert PAL to NTSC), quite a few companies in the UK simply will not export DVDs to North America, in part because technically it's illegal.

(Question: can't most PAL VCRs play NTSC video tapes? The reverse is not true - almost certainly mainly because the major TV companies don't want people to get tapes of the show, so they would have to watch the episodes (and the commercials) in reruns.)

I've ordered R2 stuff from Blackstar and amazon.co.uk, no problems, including with the FG DVD. And when the Season 2 disk comes out you can be damn sure I'll be ordering that too. I want a good copy of "Da Boom".

No. Some top-of-the-range one's can though. Most PAL TV's support NTSC or at least 60hz in my experience though.

Screw region encoding, WTF does Fox have to lose by producing Region 1 DVDs? What do they have to *gain* by not producing them? It's not like it's gonna get picked up in syndication...

Any UK buyers want to convert these DVDs to DivX, SVCD, MPG2 or the like? Anything less isn't worth it...

i think that's already been done. i think ANiVCD ripped them all in SVCD a long time ago. i just ordered the DVD's, and was even considering picking myself up an DVD burner so that i could make an R1 or region free copy that i could play anywhere. plus i've been wanting a DVD burner for a little while now. only problem is i don't have a clue which one to buy.

Well, personally, I don't really have a problem with anyone selling the VCD's. A lot of people don't have speedy connections. I have cable, and even I feel it's better to lay down some cash to get the VCD's, rather than downloading them. I plan on purchasing them in a couple months, but if someone already have all 17 VCD's and they are willing to copy them for me, I will send you 17 blank CD's, and return postage if you'd be kind enough to copy them for me.
