Hey, are you looking forward to it like I am? I'm so totally excited about it. Did you see Lizard King's scans of the possible artwork design of the new album? It looks much better than "Medazzaland", don't you think? Much cleaner and much easier to recognize the album title. I'm also glad they're releasing "Someone Else Not Me" as their first single. It could very well be another "Ordinary World" for them!!! But my favorite song from the new selections will always be "Hallucinating Elvis". I'm DYING to hear that over and over again from a CD!!!!

I'm sure there are tons of Duranies out there who like Rush as well. I think they're pretty cool, but I would certainly think there are certified fans out there as well.

First of all...ROCK ON!!! I would so love to go visit that area (esp Birmingham), because that has been my Mecca for *ages*. Second...that's a major bummer...I'm so sorry Crapitol's done that to you guys, but on the other hand I've heard rumors the band will release a new "Medazzaland", complete with extra tracks no less, for the global audience...probably on their new label, Hollywood (ironic name considering where Nick and John are from, no?) Records (or Edel in other places).

Please do!!!! LK scanned them directly from promo sleeves sent directly by Katy Krassner, the band's publicist.

Actually, I saw them performed live last summer. ("them" = 4 of the new songs) I believe you could be able to find live versions of the new tracks on .mp3 format at Pop Trash (poptrash.virtualave.net), which also has a really good lyrics database. "Ordinary World" is very personal to me too. It's also the one song which regularly gets me to crying.

I'm sure the fashions and styles of that time must've been way cool. I would SO love to dress up like a New Romantic, the technoswashbuckler look especially.

Actually, Beavis & Butthead would be more along the lines of folks from the Panhandle, around Amarillo or somesuch. South Texas is a wholly different area, sorta like the West Midlands is different from the South (England-wise).

Hey I try and do that with all my music....makes sense to have it on some sort of order, be it chronological, alpahbetcial or whatever....makes it easier to find the disk/tape/LP when you want it :)

Well, I meant some of my Real Life (tm) friends. Hey, "Is There Something I Should Know?" ("ITSISK") is a WAY cool song...and I love the video too! I'm guessing you like more of their Alex Sadkin/Ian Little stuff..."ITSISK" sounds like a song that would fit more with the rest of the songs on "7&TRT" ("Seven & the Ragged Tiger"), and for good reason too...Ian Little, co-producer of "7&TRT", produced "ITSISK" (unless you already knew that). I think you'd like the "DMC Remix" of "Save a Prayer", though. It speeds the tempo up just a bit and makes it a little danceable.

THANK YOU! I've been told many a time that what I do is borderline obsessive...glad to note it isn't. And it *does* make things easier to find too. Although I do tend to lump both Duran *and* side/solo projects and list them in chronological order...for example, I put my Arcadia CD after "Arena", my "9 1/2 Weeks" soundtrack CD before "Big Thing", my John Taylor "Feelings are Good & Other Lies" CD after "Thank You", and my Missing Persons best-of CD after the "9 1/2 Weeks" soundtrack.

Hey there's nothing wrong with weird, and who cares if he's werid/gay/straight/black/white/from mars he (they) make good music which is what matters (to me at least). Humm te strange thing is all the 'new' music I have picked up in the last 10 years or so has been stuff that has been played to me by friends, rather than stuff I heard on the radio....guess I kinda lost interest in the charts around 1990, when I finally decided that for the most part chart music sucked :)

Yeah only actually seen the video as a Real Video file from LK's site...pulled them all down a while ago and put them on CD...it's great having a leased line at work :)

Yeah 7 is still one of my fave albums of theirs...prolly the one that did the most to get me into them...though the odd thing is I never liked "Rio" for years....then went out and bought it and actually started to like bits of it...(especually "The Cheaufur".....which at the moment strangely enough makes me think of Daria :) dunno why just me !). Well of Duran stuff I only have stuff by the band none of the solo/side projects (e.g. Arcadia/Powe Station), But take for example Pink Floyd....I keep all of their stuff together and either side of it I have the solo Syd Barret (their original guitarist) stuff, and the other side the Roger Waters stuff, so slightly different but still as usable once you get used to it.

Well I have one on my emails at work....had to think really hard about that cause I wanted a quote that was apt...but that could not cause offense to anyone...took me about 6 months to decide :) That quote is familliar sounding, not quite sure what it is tho :(

See, I went to the same school as him and heard all about him after he got in the band even when they sucked and was forced to listen to them play at our school. It was freezing outside and I hated it. So, while still being pretty cool that I went to the same high school as someone famous, I hate hearing about how great they are from people. I'm still kicking myself for not getting their autographs back then so I could sell them now.

You're pretty much right. Anything popular lately has been rather depressing and sad. 'Course, I do have a special partiality for the new music of the early '90s because I was a young teen then and I so loved that kind of thing. I still do. Though, what was popular in the early '90s rock & pop scene was nothing like what's popular today in those areas. Sad.

I'm sure it is! But don't you think you should pick up the "Greatest" video? It kicks butt as far as video compilations go, and when I picked it up on my visit to England it was only �13. (The real horror came when I had to convert it to NTSC format and it ended up costing me �17 for that...it still nauseates me.)

That is so cool. That was my second Duran purchase and I can remember driving my mom crazy with it back in the first half of 1992. That was also the time when "The Seventh Stranger" totally did me in...major sob fest when I listened to it.

Humm ok. no you don't have that as an excuse....why is it when I was in my teens (ok we're talking mid 80's here, I'm gonna be 31 tomorrow....which is why I have the week off work :) ), it seemed that a group was a group of people playing instruments (somewhat badly in some cases !), with a singer of some sort....nowadays it seems that it's all boy or girlie bands singing to some backing track....

Sounds more like Adam Ant :) though I believe DD ysed to get more made up in their earlier days....

As I said it's the music that counts...hey this is almost getting back on topic for the group after all one of Daria's philosopies seems to not to judge people by apperance, but what they do/believe.

I don't really find it depressing just *crap* IMHO, I'm sure there is some good stuff out there, I just don't want to have to listen to the other 95% of rubish :) Some of the early 90's stuff was ok, though as I said by about 1990 I'd pretty much switched off to the sene in general, though I did follow the fortunes of the bands I was into....though I have always had the philosopy I'll listen to anything once, and not judge a song because I have not liked previous things by that artist....

Ok, yeah am going out shopping tomorrow so I may have a look for it. Luckily my video recorder will play back NTSC tapes, though the only one I have is onw with some of the early S3 Daria episodes on...and the only TV that will display the picture is a 15 year old B&W (Black & White...yeah we still have those in the UK !, though they are pretty hard to buy new these days :) ) set that I have. Damn TV cpature card in the computer won't capture from it tho Grrrrr :)

"Seventh Stranger" is cool, "Shadows" got used to inspire a scene in a story that a freind and I where working on, and I always pretty muched "The Reflex" and to a lesser extent "New Moon on Monday".....still only have it on tape but it is an original...now just need to get a cassette player fitted to my computer :)

Leave me alone, my spelling was always crap :) and trn doesn't have a spelling checker :( Yeah I agree the video is interesting :) BTW do I rember one of their videos having a nuke in it, my memory may be hazy here, we are talking 20 yearsish ago :)

Humm now to try and explain my association music->people.....it's strange it's not based on any perticualr thing...just a feeling I got when I first got into watching Daria I tend to do that associate a piece of music with a feeling that a perticular character or scene evokes.

Humm I meant the one where a load of Duran songs where covered, tribute album I guess....though I do have the DD version of "While Lines", which is pretty good.

Yeah actually 2 of the 3 Bryan's I know spell it with the y, so for me it is the normal spelling...but it would seem other people think differently :)

I do have a copy just had to pay a fiver over the normal price because it was imported....it's not that difficult to get hold of, just a little more expensive.

I dunno, I've always wanted to be different and back in the early 80s everyone was into them so, so I wasn't I was at the time mostly into people like Madness & Depeche Mode (who I finally got to see in 1988 :) ), I guess as I got older I actually say down and listened to the music and thought "hey this isn't bad after all" so now I have a large percentage of their work....the same is true to a lesser extend for Gary Numan.
