I think this was the best episode of the season. "The Musical" was a failure by the end and "Depth Takes A Holiday" was funny, but ultimately disappointing. "Through a Lens Darkly" had a good story but it wasn't executed as nicely as most episodes are.
I was worried that "Daria" had lost its edge, but I no longer fear that.

Funny, I thought Through A Lense Darkly was an example of what I like seeing on this show: really good character pieces with insights into Daria's psyche. And The Musical was a nice change of pace from the usual. And the songs keep coming back to me. I did like the Lost Girls a lot, but can understand if no one else did. It's not out and out funny, and nothing significant happens. But still it has its moments.

Well, with [address] I thought season 3 was off to a great start, then encored by TALD (one of my all-time favorite eps)...
Personally I'd rank them something like this: TALD, [address] and DDP (sorry, I liked 'em both a lot and couldn't decide), TLG, TOATB, DTAH.
Through A Lense Darkly has everything that I love about Daria, and makes me keep going back and watching it - it was funny, insighteful, and developed Daria's character in much the same way that Write Where it Hurts did - and heck it made *me* think of getting contacts ;-)
Daria! The Musical - well as a sort of fantasy episode it "worked" for me - I went through the effort of recording all the songs so I could listen to them...DDP developed several of the less major characters - it's nice to have non-flat supporting characters :-)
All IMO of course.

I laughed throughout "The Lost Girls", but I think it might lose humor after I see it a couple of times, because Val was so one-note. Sure, she was just a one-off character, and most one-off characters ARE caricatures, but since this episode didn't have much to offer other than Val, I'm not real sure I can rank this one as high as I'd like to at the moment.

So Val was a caricature, so what!? Like Kevin, Brittany, Tiffany, Upchuck, And Mr. O'Neil aren't? The episode didn't hold back on its biting satire of so-called "Youth Culture". Edgy indeed. It was jiggy and it rocked.

The way Daria handled the situation was very very stupid, but it was entertaining. Its nice to see that she makes mistakes on the show, how fun would it be if she were perfect?
Ok, those guys who were Upchucks cousins: vomit city! Not only were they badly drawn, but they didn't have anything interesting to say outside lame attempts at being sarcastic. I think Trent is overrated and stupid but he is like hot and interesting compared to those 2 dorks. The final act of the ep was pretty bad, Upchuck as DJ reminded me of Screech as DJ on Saved By The Bell. Besides that the Fashion Club subplot was surprisingly the strongest part of the ep, just as it was in TOATB...

Ms Li - A pair of go-go boots and a belly chain? Daria was totally wasted in this unfunny bore. The Fashion Nazi subplot was good, but not good enough to carry the ep, if the main plot with Daria would have been better this could have really been a great one.
Ugh... The only ep I will never watch, thats how bad it was, makes "The Daria Hunter" look like "The Invitation".
