Well, It has been about two weeks since Mrs.Li seized control of my school and things are just getting weirder.

It should come as no supprise there was consiterable resistance to the new dresscode, So it seems she has changed her mind on the disgusting Red and Yellow jump suit and instead has expressed an intrest in the Psudo-Perverted Catholic School Girl Look,

Yeah,

Now I would be really keen on that if the guys didn't have to wear a plaid outfit that includes a really disturbing plaid vest and knickers.

Private school is really starting to look pretty good,

After students complained about ban on discmans, walkmans ect. she decided to start playing "Motivational" music over the p.a. ALL F--CKING DAY, I really don't know how to discribe this music, if it can be called that. It makes that Blue Da Ba De song sound pretty good.

Hell, Christian School is starting to look pretty good,

And if the constant bombardment of white noice isn't enough she has broken out the 50's health class films today my class was shown a film from 1954 on the dangers of "Petting" and naturally the entire class found this hystarical and half the class was thrown out and now we have to write essays on "Mutually Distructive Behavior" to be signed by our parents.

On an intresting unrelated note, a teacher visiting from Mississippi who was ment to return at the end of the last semester defected today. If you don't know what defect means, LOOK IT UP!

That's ... interesting. Are you sure she isn't a Minion of Britney Spears?

You mean, um, shorts? This sounds really weird. I'd be embarassed to dress like that, and I'm a slob who normally wears T's and sweats when not actually going to work or a formal event :)

What do the girls have to wear, exactly?

This sounds like it would "motivate" people to thoughts of suicide.

I suspect that a lot of the kids in the 1950's thought it was pretty funny, too. Whether they were petting or not. It's just a hilarious concept for a film to be shown to a whole class.

(Then again, I snickered through most of my Health Classes, back in the late 1970's).

Oh, the horrors of laughter.

Heh, now I have this image of the teacher sneaking across the Berlin Wall :)

Britney Spears, Satan, they're so similar...

Knickers? That is *kinky*! ;-)

I'm betting something really horrible, Jordan.

Actually, it sounds like a technique used by hostage rescue teams and various military groups to break the wills of people holed up in a building. Remember the Noriega ordeal, or the Waco standoff? Both times, the army/FBI tried blasting music nonstop for hours and hours and hours. The combined effect can be quite psychologically destructive-- especially when it NEVER FRICKIN' ENDS! ;-)

"Petting-- it's not just for zoos anymore." <g> Well, all I'll say is this-- I'd rather have my future kid get into petting than into, well, you know... let's just say that not only do I have little interest in being a father right now, but the idea of being a grandfather fills me with a horror so dark... ;-)

"Petting." Is it me, or does that sound like a reeeeally stupid way of glossing over one of my favorite words, "groping?" ;-)

Mine were in the mid-80s, but I bet we saw the same films. <g> Especially the one telling us that cocaine wasn't addictive, but that PCP was the devil's work. I guess certain governmental agencies wanted us to make sure that we patronized our foreign buddies... But I remember seeing 3 or so films in which in each one, some dumb guy tries to fly, and jumps off of a building. That HAS to be an urban legend if I ever heard of one.

Heh, it could always be worse. Believe me, it may not get better, but it could ALWAYS be worse.

You know what's REALLY sad? That this school is so bad, it's scaring away someone from MISSISSIPPI-- the state that most regularly has among the worst schools in the whole US of A. Sheesh.

Hang in there-- someday, you'll either A) laugh at this stupidity in retrospect, and find a way to cash in on a book, 2) Manage to successfully block all memories of this, and many other things, or III) Help your therapist make those payments for that cute little sports car she's had her eye on for some time now.

I just remember hearing about US state school system rankings every year on the news, and usually the bottom states are MS, AL, and SC. These need to be taken with a grain of salt, because the rankings are usually based on SAT scores. (Of course, my own state, NC, isn't too far from the bottom, either, although things have improved quite a bit here-- at least we're better than SC. <g>)

Hmmm ... you know, you're right.

Yes, well ... imagine the effect on a roomfull of kids when you show them a film on this. It's bound to embarass or amuse them, regardless of the average level of sexual experience.

Well, it emphasizes the romantic over the sexual aspects. So it's a "nicer" way of putting it.

No, that one hadn't come out yet, I guess.

ROFL! Makes ya wonder ...

Oh, I'm sure *somebody* has done that. How *common* that sort of thing is, I dont know ...

But the question is, what will it teach them? Or will it teach them anything at all? (I'd bet on the latter more so than the former.)

Semantics. ;-) In my mind, petting is something you do to your dog or cat, not someone you, er, you know... Groping at least implies "striving for" or "trying to reach" as well as the more obvious meanings. (Okay, okay, it's a sophist's argument, but I *liiike* sophist's arguments!)

I dunno-- all of these movies had the bad Jimi Hendrix ripoff music, and all were done around 1974. Maybe they were too expensive at the time.

But ya know, it does... when we were interested in Vietnam, heroin was big. Then came Central America, and reurgence of cocaine in th 70s and 80s, and now back to heroin, and our interests in just about all of Asia...

I bet one guy did it like 25-30 years ago, and now there's a story about the same guy in every town. (Although I do remember an incident where a guy did a swan dive out of the high-rise dorm next to mine at the time. He was apparently stoned out of his gourd, and decided to jump out of a 5th story window into a dumpster. Ouch. But this was in 1990.)

It's time to read (or re-read) _One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest_. ;-)

I once worked, for a brief period, in an outdoor pursuits shop inside a shopping centre (AmE="mall"). We used to fantasise about conducting covert night raids on the room where the Muzak machine was kept, and Aralditing heavy metal cassettes into the machines to replace the "Bored session musicians play easy listening hits" that the centre management favoured.

As a lifelong Catholic school girl, let me tell you that REAL uniforms do NOT look like some bloody Slutney Spears video piece of shit. They're meant to clothe you in a regimented attire and that's it. Still, you do have to pay a tuition in order to get such a privilege.... (LOL, I really meant that, wearing a uniform meant you didn't have to think about what you were gonna wear the next day and I *loved* that)

*guffaw* Ummmm...why that over regular ol' pants? And why not stick to solid colors? Plaids are NOT cool when you're talking about anyone 14 or over.

Yeah, seeing from what you've posted thus far about your school...it's not nearly as strict...sheesh, and I thought my high school's handbook was strict...LOL.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

That would drive me UP THE FREAKIN WALL.

Who does she think she is, that bloody commander guy who flies over that Vietnam field in that scene from "Apocalyse Now"? Heck, at least "Flight of the Bumblebee" is actually entertaining to listen to.

Come over to our side...come, we're waiting for you...you don't have to be Christian either...just have some sort of religion and be willing to have religion classes....

*howl*

An old film on "petting"????? What the bloody heck...and what DID they expect as a classroom reaction from something like that..."Oooh, this is quite informative?" I mean, give me a break. We too had to suffer through some of those health films, but (a.) they didn't deal with that and (b.) they were from the '70s so they were grainy and filmed with preternaturally bright light. And they were boring as heck so no one ever laughed or acted up...we were all too busy trying to look like we were awake.

First of all, I know what "defect" means (images of Baryshnikov come to mind). Second, from Mississippi? After someone here posted how utterly CONSERVATIVE that place is? Whoa, okay, now this is starting to sound creepily like Lawndale High....

Oh me, oh my! Gah gah dammit! We hope *that* Li dies!

Correction: The teacher who defected was from Alabama not Mississippi, But who cares all those white trash states are the same.

It is really sad what is happening to this school, Although the students are wild, spoiled and oversexed to an extream, Our test scores are second to none, Our athletes are very good and the atmosphere is (er, was) terrific and since no-one was actually being harmed academicly or otherwise by what wa taking place in the school does that really justify bringing in the Rudy Guiliani of principals and all sorts of stupid rules. If anyone REALLY belives stupid movies from the 50's will have ANY EFFECT WHAT-SO-EVER. THEY ARE RETARDS!

What?!?! Alabama, Mississippi, *white trash*? (sputters off laughing) White trashdom is *not* limited to one particular part of the country, m'dear...hell, as long as there are rednecks all across the globe, there'll also be white trash all across the globe. And lest I be branded as "racist", there are also black trash, Hispanic trash, Asian trash (yeah, I kid you not...a woman who came onto "Jerry Springer" who had had sex with over 200 men in 10 hours is one example), etc., etc., etc. Trashdom is global...unfortunately.
