More likely, it's proof that the writer of "Fizz Ed" knew about the soda-contract issue and used it to drive his story. In this case, I'd say Daria imitates life.
Most likely. That kind of thing is old news here in Western Pennsylvania. The first "exclusive pour licenses" went into effect around here about three years ago. Now, probably a third or more of the local public schools have them. It's not that dire. For the most part, the agreements limit the vendor to non-carbonated beverages except in the "public" areas of the campus, like the stadium, auditorium, or gymnasium lobbies, and the employee lounges. And advertising is limited as well. No sales quotas. Not a big deal. Yet.
That's probably what most NORMAL principals are able to limit the advertising and the vending of the sodas. Note I said NORMAL -- Ms. Li is NOT normal and we all know that. :)
Well, yeah. I was talking more about the newspaper article than about the episode. However, at the local high school, the assistant principal is nearly a dead ringer for Ms. Li. During the parents' orientation day a couple of years ago, I really had to work to keep from laughing during her presentation. Especially when her presentation was about the involuntary community service each student is required to do during the freshman and sophomore years. It was too perverse to not laugh at it.
