Season three premiere... the peasants rejoice!!!

I've been waiting all afternoon for Michelle Klein-Hass to post this, but she hasn't, so I will. (Forgive me for stealing your thunder, MsGeek-sensei!)

The third season of "Daria" will premiere on Wednesday, Feburary 17th, with the episode "Daria! (The Musical)". (Sounds like Daria's getting roped into another Drama Horizons play, doesn't it?) There will be an all-day Daria marathon on Monday, Feburary 15th, and a mini-marathon on Wednesday leading up to the premiere. Like the season two Daria Day, Daria and Jane will be hosting the marathon and offering witty repartee, but *unlike* before, they will not be "answering" viewer letters.

I'll cut to the chase: Having got next weeks TV guide/magazine thing, I was... disappointed... to find out C5 was not showing Daria next Sunday morning (31st). And MTV don't appear to be showing it either.

Call it a hunch, but that's it for now. But we all knew this would happen, right? Lets find another way to feel...

Is this group particularly bothered about Spoiler warnings? Only I remember on uk.tv.babylon5 (or something) someone posted a SEVERE spoiler, which was in the Subject line of their post, and thus unavoidable. They were right royally toasted by irate uk viewers, if I recall...

On the plus side, BBC2 is having a Lee Marvin day on Saturday, and they're showing John Boorman's "Hell in the Pacific", starring Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. A cool film I thought. Alright, so it's not much of a plus point, depending on where your tastes lie...

I am excited as anyone but I am being cautious with regards to the season premier based solely on its title. I hope this is nothing, but the title of this episode sounds a little bit weird.

I don't have anything against musicals, but I think I just had a bad first reaction to the title- it just had me more confused than usual.

Maybe I should learn to only post things that I've given some thought to instead of rushing. A 'delayed reaction' is better :)

Personally, I can't wait to see what they did. As soon as I heard the title, I thought of the old Simpson's episode with "Streetcar!" the musical version of Tennesee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire," and then I had an image of Ned Flanders singing "Stella!" But then again, I like shows that are serious at times, but don't take themselves *too* seriously. (And, of course, I'm a connoiseur of the running gag, when done well, so we can agree to disagree. ;-) )

Actually, I kind of liked that one. As for our upcoming season premier, I think the title caught me off guard more than anything- I wasn't expecting something like that (yet another reason this is my favorite current TV show). BTW, I don't consider *all* running gags automatically bad. If they are well done and really funny the first time, I can get into it. I think I was soured on some of the running gags that were used on Daria that were never funny, no matter how many times you've heard it (e.g. those paintball thingies hurt). But as a general rule, I would prefer not to see too many running gags.

Reminded me of "Cannibal! The Musical" a movie with Trey Parker & Matt Stone, which is really gross but funny.... but I'd like to reiterate there is NO cannibalism in the British navy. Weird. I had a fanfic idea with the exact same title. If the actual episode turns out to be similar to my idea, it'd be nice to think I'm at the same wavelength as the Daria writers.
