BURGER! GET...BURGER!

	I was watching today at the that Daria streaming video site
(link to it off of Planet Daria (http://www.the-wall.net/~daria) the "Ill"
episode. I like this one for a few reasons, but I'll get to those after I
make my point. Did anyone think that when Daria answered Jane's question
of going out for a burger as being funny? "Burger, yeah...this place puts
me in the mood for meat." I was thinking that it may be a reference to the
"meat market" of dating we so often think of bars and other social scenes
as. Anyway I liked that line.
	Some of the other funny parts about this episode:
	-Brittany's black hair and suit (bounus..it's changing colors
through the episode
	-Seeing Mystic Spiral playing, the whole band (not just a
practice).
	-The scene of EVERYONE (even Mrs Sullivan) in the hospital.
	-When Helen and Jake start bickering about how Daria hasn't been
seen by a doctor yet Quinn and Daria just say "hi" to one another (already
SOO used to Helen acting like a complete power freak).
	-The doctor picking up on Helen's TOO powerful attitude ("I did
want to ask you something: what's with your mom?")

BTW, for those who want the link, it's http://www.daria.org. Don't bother unless you have at least a 56K connection, as the videos are unwatchable at 33.6K or slower.

My take on it was that the Zen was such a raw environment that it tended to bring out the animal in people, hence the craving for meat. Of course, it looked pretty tame compared to some of the places I've seen, but this *is* a cartoon after all. :-)

I had a problem with the way they handled Brittany. For one thing, Jane knew that Brittany had dyed her hair, as they had hung out in the Zen after Daria ditched them ("although her hair did leak onto my shoes"), yet Jane looked shocked at Brittany's appearance in the hallway (dirty gray hair with streaks of black). Matter of fact, so did Kevin, yet they were sitting together in O'Neill's class and Brittany's hair was gray then, too. Also, Brittany was surprised to see Daria's rash when she visited her in the hospital, yet Brittany was the *FIRST* person to see it (she pointed it out to Daria in the ladies room at the Zen).

Methinks the writer didn't pay complete attention to the plot when he was writing the later scenes. Thankfully, those two continuity errors didn't detract from the overall episode.

"What are *YOU* doing here?" seems to be a common thing with Daria, doesn't it? She may consider herself to be a loner and a social outcast, but in reality she has more friends than she realizes... and maybe the events in "Ill" will have made her realize it.

I liked how Dr. Phillips blew Quinn off after she practically leaped into his arms. :-) He's obviously dealt with reactions like this to his looks many times before.

One of my favorite lines. Very quotable too. Oh yeah, does anybody know where I could find a sound file of Jane saying "Get... Get burger!"? That would be a great start-up sound...
