Please ID songs from Daria...

I just finished a 3 hour Daria-a thon. I do this every now and then. I'm just now realizing how amazingly well written the show actually is. It's way more incredible than I first thought. It's the only show I've seen that gets better with repeated viewing.

Anyway, in "Write Where It Hurts", there is a song during the tease out to commercial. It is Helen in a suit of armor holding her finger out to Jake, and the song goes "...it came from the sky, in all shades of green...". I liked that sample, and I'd like to know what song it is and the artist.

I'd also like to know from "Road Worrier": The fashion club is in front of a mirror at the department store talking about alternative clothes and getting a fake tattoo. In the background is a cool song, and I want to know what it is.

Since 99% of Daria's music is stuff that they just rip from popular contemporary music, I'm assuming they are things I can find at the record shop.

I'd also like to identify songs from Daria. In "Malled" (where the class goes to a mall), there are two really cool songs I'd like to know the names of. First, when Daria and Jane enter that "Scissor Wizard" (sp?) place, where "they don't sell scissors, they cut hair". That background music is way cool. What is it? That would be "El President" by Drugstore, from their "White Magic for Lovers" album. Pretty good album btw. They spliced the beat from Massive Attack's "Teardrop" in between the strings when the lightning strikes and the commercial. 'Nother cool sond IMO. I don't really care for the rest of the album, but ah well :)

"Emergency On Planet Earth" Jamiroquai according to Outpost Daria. Didn't know this one offhand.

LOL. Not always :) Some of their songs are rather more obscure...it may be simply that the more popular ones are the ones you notice :)

I doubt you'll find it in stores-- I had to order it from the now-absorbed-by-CDNOW Music Blvd. It's a pretty good CD, but don't expect to find it on sale.

Oh, and many many thanks to Susie Lewis, who gave Michelle the info on that song-- it was driving us all NUTS for what seems like a year. Susie was always an excellent music-picker for the show. It's amazing how much the music adds to the experience.
