IICY -- Paramount thinks DVD release will be late August -- Marketing (PPMB Crosspost)

I went fishing on HomeTheaterForum.com, and look what I caught. Mr. Blythe is a big fish in the Paramount DVD marketing department, and often answers questions there:

Does anyone have any idea when the Paramount/MTV DVD with the Daria TV-film "Is it College Yet" will be released?

If you like Daria, please sign our petition and buy "Is it Fall Yet?", the first Daria movie. Thanks.

I'll be on the lookout for places to preorder. If you want the box set to appear, the best way is to have impressive preorder number for this DVD. I hope that it will be a "stealth Region 0", as was IIFY? on DVD.

Daria "Is It College Yet?" will be in stores 8/27/02 - so far, I think the dvd features include 2 bonus episodes "Lucky Strike + Boxing Daria," character sketches + profiles.

Not sure how many "Is It Fall Yet?" sold.

I have written to Amazon, asking that they push Paramount for a preorder listing. I hope everyone who is interested in DVDaria can:

-- Contact whatever online or brick-n-mortar retailer(s) you like [more letters to Amazon would be okay, contact me on how to send one] and ask to be able to preorder IICY on DVD. Those outside R1 should consider asking for releases in their region/language.

-- Spread the word through your personal contacts, Web sites, etc. DVDaria will be updated this afternoon.

-- As with IIFY, BUY IT. Even if, as I do, you lack a player to run it on. :-) The way things go in electronics, I bet they'll be giving DVD players away in cereal boxes before too long.

We can do this. We can make DVDaria real.
