The apology

I'm sorry beyond words.

After finding myself avoiding any responses to the reactions to my post re: abortion, I've decided to let you know that I won't be discussing my stance on said issue anymore. I have found my position too extreme to go into at a length of time longer than what I'd explained. And besides, I'm hurting and offending you guys, which I've done too much of recently. I'm sure even Daria herself would agree that in this case, complete honesty doesn't beat being considerate of others who are supposed to be in your corner. ("Complete honesty" in this case means "complete honesty about my opinions on the matter.")

Have I missed something here? I don't recall seeing any offensive posts on this subject. Maybe they've got lost amongst all the offensive political stuff people have been posting.

I have to second Shez's comments. Don't berate yourself, Diane, for raising an important topic that has led to a serious, courteous discussion. Some of the side issues (like the shallowness of the "Condom as panacea" aproach) have been enlightening, and I've been heartened by the depth of understanding shown here.

HEY! You don't have to feel sorry for expressing your opinion as long as it's honest. And we needn't feel sorry for disagreeing--if it's honest disagreement. If you remain quiet and don't reveal your opinion how is anyone ever to know what you think? And if we don't disagree then how would you ever know? We now all know just a little more than we did before.

One of the problems of being either male or female (as opposed to those who seem to try to be both) is that neither can ever know what life is like for the other. What makes it worse is that no one ever talks about it. If we share opinions, experiences, thoughts and (well, ok) "feelings," we might improve life for both sexes. Please don't shut up.

There is no need to apologize, but if are apologizing, I think that I owe you one, as well. I've been going through some tough times in my own life lately and I was having a particularly bad day on Wednesday. For some reason that post set me off and I'm sorry if my tone was anything but respectful. It doesn't change the way I feel about the issue, but my response was sort of inappropriate.

Again, I apologize and didn't mean to offend anyone.
